Nice PS skills there Vyrus! The support on the loop doesn't look too bad. It's safer and it doesn't look too bad. It could be a win-win.

Thanks for the rep, and if you look that the spine goes THICKER over the top of the loop, that also means that the rest of the loop spine has to deal with that extra weight along with the G forces when the train goes over the top.

All in all, the ride was poorly designed, albeit they tried to be innovative, there are a few problems, but let me reiterate that they are all FIXABLE and it does not need to be demolished.

So do we know for sure that there are cracks in the non inverting loop or are you guys just basing this off of what a member on here said?

No one knows for sure, but the clues all seem to add up to it. I'm also in the camp of people who believe Universal found the problems and notified MS. I believe they have a good safety program in place and would not be surprised if they were being extra diligent with the Rockit just because of all the initial issues. Props to Uni if it is indeed true, although I wish they were more forthcoming with the potential closure length and the fact that it's beyond "maintenance."

Every possibility of a problem could be out there with UO keeping their mouths shut on this one.

They are being smart about it though, they don't want to happen to Rockit what happened to Mission: Space, which is thats it a VERY dangerous ride and no one goes on it anymore, so they don't want this coaster be empty and un-used by stating that there are stress cracks in the track, but who knows...who knows.

I'd be just fine with no one riding it anymore. 5 minute waits for the Rockit all day? Yes, please.

Mission: Space has a very high capacity. The lack of waits have nothing to do with the incidents back in 2003, 2004. Most of the general public have probably forgotten it anyway. It's just a crowd eater. During the peak season, Space can have a very high wait time.

When it opened, several people died after riding it. All cases though were sadly the fault of the rider as they had pre-existing health conditions before riding.

Yes, if you go by deaths you could say that Expedition Everest is a dangerous coaster because a guy died on it a few years back. It's a wimpy coaster, yet he was alive at ride photo time and dead when the train returned to the station. As with Mission Space, it was a pre-existing health condition. Yet ironically, truly flawed coasters like the Bat and Drachen Fyre actually never had deaths before they were dismantled.

To me Mission: Space doesn't have a high capacity, I guess I could be wrong, I know they have 3 centrifuges in there, but I never bothered to see the ride capacity. All I notice when I go to Epcot is TT and Soarin with 45+ min waits and MS with 10

No one has died on Rockit, but a close Rockit TM has frequently talked about trains returning to the station with unconcsious or injured guests. Often blood has been all over the restraint. Not sure if this has to do with the closure, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The loop-crack theory is an interesting one, though the G-forces exerted on the top portion of the loop would seem minimal, as most of the energy is transfered forward on the incline, into the supports, and then downward into the declining supports.

The word on the TM street is mounting braces on the X-car are cracking, (not the loop, though that could be true, too), and that MS and Uni are working on a solution for that. TMs for Rockit are being outsourced to other attractions; full-time TMs are actually being cross-trained at these other attractions, which suggests that these employees are being re-assigned, somewhat permenantly.

If there is a problem with the loop, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them take the "safe option" and remove the loop entirely. Why deal with more potential problems when you can just reprofile a few pieces of track? Is there even room between the loop and the stage to add a decent support? (Vyrus.. you had me there for a few seconds!) Most of the ride is an eyesore so aesthetics shouldn't be a problem!

Looking back at the concept art that you guys posted makes me sad.. I know concept art is CONCEPT art but the WWoHP is spot on! This thing is a pile of red and yellow puke compared to that awesome artwork!

I heard about the constant problems with guest safety on the ride but not about people coming back bloody. It wouldn't surprise me though! I can handle intense coasters but after a few rides on Rockit.. this thing was intense but there was something else that felt wrong with it. I dont know if it was the vibrations or what, but I have no desire to ride it again anytime soon! I do hope Universal finds a good fix for it though. Universal had the chance to bring a good Intamin to Florida though! Thanks BGT!

 I knew I would get a couple of people with that. But I think the problem with the ride all along (besides the crack in the trains) is the programming and the location in that alleyway that basically is a wind tunnel. This ride will get fixed, at what expense or time? I have no clue.

Interestingly, the Rockit shut down temporarily once when we were waiting in line, almost to the station, and they took someone away on a stretcher and then reopened it. I didn't think much of it at the time. Dunno if they were bloody or got hurt on the ride or what. Heard the closing announcement, just briefly saw someone getting hauled away, then it reopened again.

People pass out on rides all the time. Whether this one was a pre-existing cause or the rockit' itself is a mystery. How long ago was that?

I bet a lot of people with pre-existing conditions rode this because of all the hype surrounding it. It was extremely highly advertised and since USF is not mainly a thrill park, they thought they could take it. Truth is this is a bona fide thrilling, intense coaster.
