It’s been a while since we’ve had a dedicated thread to talk about Universal Studios Florida in a broader sense, and rather than keep letting that conversation bleed into other threads (I have been guilty!), I thought it should have its own place.

NOTE: This is not a catch-all thread to post general updates about the park (refurbishments, new entertainment, shopping, dining). This is meant to be a more philosophical discussion about the overall direction in which the park has been going, and where it might be going in the future. We could discuss how new offerings might tie into...

Converting Fallon into a flying theater “thesis” ride, still based in 30 Rock with a “History of Universal Studios” exhibit in lieu of the SNL gallery makes a ton of sense. Give it a Hanna Barbara/Jimmy Neutron vibe of crashing through various Universal movies, and it could actually be a banger. I’d prefer it in the front of the park, but New York works in the pinch they’ve created.

Supercharged, unless it becomes Godzilla, is likely to going to necessitate a retheme of San Francisco in its entirety. Unless they go for something really unexpected (Star Trek) there just isn’t anything the really “fits” that area of the park anymore.

Honestly, I like that flying theatre idea. It could work. I couldn’t help myself, so here’s My Pitch for the story, and how the ride could work.

It’s a history of all the greatest universal studios movies. Now, universal presents an all new technology as a finalie for this exhibition: a veichle that will literally take you into the movies! But suddenly, biff tannen pops out, and in shades of BTTF the ride, decides he wants to take a little joyride, and rewrite movie history so he is a big Hollywood star. Suddenly, you are forced to go on a great chase after biff into the greatest movies ever, to save Hollywood history! (Sorry if it’s a bit derivative).
In my mind, it also could have random programming like star tours, so you can insert new movies when you want to keep it fresh.

In my mind, some potential movie scenes to enter are the stay puft marshmallow man’s attack on New York, a version of hill valley, maybe who-ville from one of the grinch movies, a Jurassic scene, King Kong, ect.

Demolition will likely start within a month of closure.

Its construction took place during HHN guys. There is plenty of precedent for construction/demolition taking place during the event.

Starting work sooner also means they'd get the new ride open hopefully by HHN in 2027(?).

Don’t know. Universal probably isn’t sure yet. It will depend entirely on what the demo schedule looks like, as that will determine which portions of the ride can’t be traversed under.

Yeah, we're 8 months away from HHN, and 9 months away from Rockit's closure. I'm quite sure that both HHN and the Park will know how they're going to work around each other by then. This isn't some last-minute thing like a venue getting destroyed for Transformers, and even then, they still worked around that.

I say, keep the coaster music-themed but instead of expensive pop music, utilize iconic film scores. Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, even Jaws in the buildup to the launch. The SymphoniCoaster. It could even dump into a classic Universal-themed shop!
