Hey guys, so I thought I would finally getting around to post my opinion on Rockit.
So when this ride first opened, it was plagued with problems, yes, but I thought "well it's the world's most technologically advanced roller coaster at this point, it's allowed to have problems." So I got on the ride here and there, and I enjoyed it. Then I took a break from visiting the parks and had heard that it had finally gotten up to 5 (or is it 6?) train operation. I also heard that the moving platform had been working, which I thought is cool.
So one day after my AP got activated I decided to head on over and see for myself all these changes. It had been a while, so I took notice of the metal casings over the walls from where people had chipped the paint away (smart idea.) The line was posted 30, and I went single riders, but I noticed the end of the line was the bottom of the stairs, and I knew Express was still not available, so I turned around and went into the regular line, knowing it would move pretty constantly.
So it did move pretty consistently, I was in line for about 20 -25 minutes. I also noticed how the platform is now completely different, where you don't get to pick your own row, you just go wherever they place you, and the original lines for the rows are now the regular line. I thought it was a pretty good idea, getting people on quicker and so forth, especially with a continuously moving ride system.
Folks that is when the good aspects of the ride end. So I took to notice that they were only running 3 trains. Okay, understandable, it was a slow day (6pm closing) so they were saving on maintenance costs, no problem. However, 2 seats on every train were down (black tarps over the harnesses). Okay, thats pretty sucky. Also, since there were only 3 trains, the trains were pretty spaced out along the ride path, and so occasionally there would be times where there would no NO trains in the station, and we were waiting on one to return. Also, the trains would stop sometimes too. I know it has to do with slow guests or large guests, but it seemed to happen a lot.
So finally I got onto the ride, 2nd row (did not see what train I had). We stopped too, and sat for about a full minute before dispatching. Its sad when the best part of the ride is the lifthill. Immediately going into the non inverting loop, my seat started rattling, and my headache began there. I mean, usually I like to put my hands up or look around on roller coasters to see different things, but my head was pounding so much that I just held on and looked forward. Treble Clef was no different, still vibrating badly. Rest of the ride, meh. Then on the block brake before diving down next to the Blue Man walkway, all the audio cuts out. It wasn't just my seat, but the whole train (I could hear other people saying theres went out too). Ride finished, pounding headache.
I can go ride Hulk maybe 3 times before getting a headache, Dragons I've done 3 times each track before I call it a day, and Kraken and Manta I could ride all day. But Rockit, is terrible. Halfway through the ride, I wanted off. It just really surprises me that such a ride was built. It's going to be TERRIBLE when Express finally does open on that ride, the regular line skyrockits and no one will think the ride is worth the wait. I was thinking of doing it again afterwards while I was in line, but after that one ride, no way.
It's funny to me that Forbidden Journey, one of the most technologically advanced rides built of all time can be in operation for a good amount of time, not break down, and be very enjoyable. Yet Rockit, is indeed the worst roller coaster in Florida. Okay, actually Gwazi is up there too.
