Some pepole that work on rockit told me that theres cracks in the noninverting loop I think i know why just look at it the thing sways like crazy and it has like no support on it

I would actually believe that report. When I was in the park for HHN on opening night, they had a small lift/crane up to the loop. :shrug:

Maybe they can add another vertical support in the middle of the loop, but I'm not sure that would work or be aesthetically pleasing (although I'd rather have safety than aesthetics). The space between the two sides of the loop (at the bottom) might be too narrow and then if the vehicle valleys, that would create a new risk because the vehicle might get too close to the support :-S

When it comes to using the Magic Carpet for loading, you are correct Potter does use it, but they also realized their mistake and made the MC 50 feet longer to have a better chance to lock people in, or opt them out in case any problems happen. They didn't make it long enough on Rockit unforunately and that hurts the ride as well, but with good timing in the programming and the TMs in the station working on a strict "no way back" point on the platform, they can get the ride up to full capacity.

I totally agree with the rest of your points, but I don't think they will ever do that.

Because instead of slowing it down to click them in, they are able to keep the trains going in and out of the station on the dot.

When it comes to the loop, it is very possible to have cracks and my theory is because this isn't like most loops in roller coasters. If you look at most loops, they are more like ovals than they are actual loops, its done more for g-forces but also structural support. This is the first loops I've seen in a long time thats an actual O, PLUS the twist at the top, so this is a very likely scenario.

I fully believe there are cracks/problems with the loop. Hubby and I looked at each other the first time we rode it and felt the float and said, "There is no way this is going to hold up. Too much stress. They're going to have problems with the trains, loops or both." Lord knows we're not engineers, but if you are enough of a coaster fanatic you develop a gut instinct. That element just never seemed sound (even tho' it's way cool).

The reason the non-inverting loop is more O shaped is actually because it twists at the top. When they designed it, they had to think about the riders' heartline, which is basically what all elements are designed around. be cause the heartline is above the track instead of below like a normal loop, the top of the track was lowered. This way the hearrtline actually remains the same shape while the track differs. Sorry if you already knew all this.

I definetely believe the crack-in-the-loop theory. Ayone else who's tried to build this on No Limits knows it's a pain to get right, and I bet even more of a pain to support.

Easy fix would be to put a support right under the twist on the top, on the side the twist is going on the way up.

But Maurer Söhne says its X-Car can go upside down safely without over the shoulder restraints right in its catalog. We all believe Maurer Söhne, don't we?

(I was actually hoping to find the original PR photo of people hanging upside down in Rockit cars with their arms outstretched that came out while it was being built, but can't find it anywhere so this stuff from their catalog will have to do.)

I am almost certain that the support was built onto the loop, the apex is one large support beam, its just curved so it doesn't really look like your traditional support.

That's just thicker track for more strength throughout the ride.

It kind of seems like a similar problem to what Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm was having when it first opened. I'm thinking they'll have to add a support structure to the middle of the loop. Less aesthetically appealing, but much more structurally sound.

I have the same openion it wont look as good but will be more safe and wont sway as much.

The spine was thickened to give support not to be a support. It obviously wasn't enough however.

I wonder how risky it has been to ride this up till now. It doesn't seem too safe.

It hasn't been risky at all, so thank GOD they discovered all of these problems before they got worse than what they actually were.

Supposedly the cracks in the coupling weren't even visible they were internal, and imagine the fact it was UO who told Maurer about it, not vice versa. So that shows how safe UO's inspections really are.
