That's Mugglenet.com's recipe from 2007. It may taste similar but they didn't base it off of the WWoHP's version.

Whoops, my bad. It was just posted on their Tumblr today, so I assumed it was based on Wizarding World butterbeer. My bad. But I mean, isn't butterbeer warm in the books and movies? Besides, it could be cooled.

According to the Butterbeer Wiki, it is served both cold and hot. http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Butterbeer

I know I'd rather have cold on a hot day in Florida.

I don't think the flavor Uni and JKR have gone with will work hot. I'd much rather have a hot chocolate in the winter. Hot soda, cream or otherwise, is NEVER tasty.

Thanks for the recipe! I can't wait to try it. I've been using Publix brand cream soda and butterscotch syrup (about 1-2 TBs) and stirring it well for my fix. Kind of the idea, but so not the same. Very much looking forward to using this. Once I try it, I'll give you my feedback!

And 100% the WWOHP official version is non-dairy and as someone who visited with someone who is lactose intolerant, I was more than pleased they could partake with two of us who weren't so "blessed."

So does anyone know what's all in the Butterbeer (roughly)? It's not carbonated, right?

I have food allergies and sensitivities, but nothing will keep me from trying it once I get there. I just wish the ingredients were public, since I'd know whether or not to plan on getting sick after drinking it. :(

Well, Butterbeer has no dairy products and the only known ingredients in the real butterbeer is cream soda and sugar....Hope this helps a little.

Has anyone seen them ever refill the Butterbeer cart?

My friend and I wondered about that while there on Tuesday so I took a look under the cart. From what we can tell, there's probably not any butterbeer in the cart itself. It's all hoses that go into the ground so there's probably a tank somewhere else with the materials and the cart is all for show.

I'm not the only one who would describe Butterbeer as "thick".

"Then they would walk around and have this mustache on," said Sabrina Sampson, 11, of Richmond, Va., who described the drink as tasting "like cream soda. It was somewhat thick, and it was really sweet, and then it got salty as you swallowed it, like butterscotch."

The recipe looks great, can't wait to try it. As far as the "real" recipe used by Universal, of course it can't have dairy because it needs to last a long time without spoiling and possibly being kept at uneven/warm temperatures occasionally. I've read several reviews (including one by the Leaky Cauldron) that stated the foam kept replicating itself in the glass, and might contain yeast. As you drink more and more butterbeer, the foam actually increases in size. Since the base liquid isn't carbonated, people are guessing that the foam contains yeast. Yeast and a lot of different forms of sugar, that's my guess for the real recipe!
