I was planning to go to Seaworld today but then decided against it, as it might be stormy today and roads might be bad.

Interesting also, that Winn Dixie here still had seltzer water and club soda, seems a lot of people forget that carbonation aside, this is just regular water.

Not sure what roads you use, I'm going to Epcot today and I-4 at least seems very smooth. Publix in Celebration seemed very well stocked had water and bread.

Now if I could only figure out why everyone seemed to be stocking up on frozen foods and meat.:saywhat:

Guess we'll see how well the built floating mountains and the volcano, if they kind withstand this they'll withstand anything.

I usually do it with soda bottles, but yes. 100% do this.

Also, fill bath tubs with water for cleaning or toilet flushing. You can use your washing machine as a temp cooler. I also turn down the a/c right before the storm hits a bit more cooler to keep the house "pre-cooled" in case of power outage.

Alternatively, your dishwasher is a good place to stow valuables that you don't want ruined by water damage.

Well, I don't drive and hence take a public bus, lol, and since the bus system is not always reliable on even a normal day, I thought, better stay home. Seems a little stormy as well, so coasters might only be running sporadically.

I think people buy meats because they plan to barbeque, have that the first day of no power, then have canned stuff after that. I'll be making some flat breads later on :)

Disney starts announcing closures: Walt Disney World Closing Scheduled Events and Experiences as Precaution for Hurricane Irma – DisneyDining It's interesting that the article also says MCO is closing on Saturday at 5pm, and no re-opening dates have been determined yet.

Area officially went into Hurricane Watch with the 11am update. So parks should be making some announcements soon.

I read one persons post that said they went to a store and all of the water was gone, but they had Gatorade on sale, yet no one was buying it.

While it's good for them to announce a closure early it's not good they're putting guests and TMs in danger as local authorities are asking everyone to be prepared and in your shelter location by 5pm Saturday.

But realistically the area won't see the storm at all that early.

And honestly, 7 isn't even that early of a closure for Uni. Just this past Monday they closed at 7.

Big difference from last year with Matthew. Portofino was emptying out as we left and the reservation desk said everyone was cancelling.

We're a few mins away from the 2pm update from the NHC and Disney hasn't made a peep in a while. One of their areas kind of let slip from the evening update yesterday that there's a 3pm announcement scheduled. So, I'd expect them to announce park closures at that point, if they don't decide to do it a little sooner.
