DC is such an awkward sized B&M coaster. It starts off as a big Montu/Banshee type ride, but then dwindles into a Batman coaster. Or am I the only one that has noticed this?

I personally much prefer shoulder harnesses to a simple lap bar. I often ensure I get myself as snug as possible with all of my restraints, but lap bars never make me full completely safe and comfortable. I'm either crushing my legs or have a gap. Probably part of my fear is due to flume rides where I have absolutely 0 chance of getting tight and usually 30% of even touching the bar

The only inversion that would make me feel at all uncomfortable with a lap bar would be a zero-G roll. The lateral Gs on those things are insane and I get totally thrown to the side. I still wouldn't fear falling out, but depending on the size/shape on the seats, that could be uncomfortable with nothing about the waist. That being said, I'm a big proponent for doing away with OTSRs. I love lap bars or those lap bars with the vests. OTSRs are so bulky and really aren't any more secure, regardless of what the GP believes.

I like being snug on a rollercoaster, especially of Hulk's size. Not sure I would like it if they took it away, or if even the GP besides hardcore coaster fans would. I mean, I'd still ride it, but eh...

I honestly don't think there will be lap bars folks. Universal is already battling safety issues I doubt they will want your whole upper body free. Plus hulk is to intense imo.

They're not gonna get rid of the OTSRs if it's not safe. If it's fine with just a lap bar, then that's probably what they're going with. I doubt it's going to affect how many people ride.

Ok, found exactly what I believe the new Hulk will have:

Notice that in addition to the clamshell lap bar and leg restraints there is also a lap belt.

This is exactly what Wicked Cyclone at Six Flags NE has for restraints. They are incredibly comfortable actually.

I have a fear of carnie folk and I know I trust universal but for some reason, I feel like this would trigger my carnie senses. Not passing judgement until I see it though.

Shamhala has similar restraints, but without the leg restraints. We saw a lot of people chicken out when they realised it didn't have OTSR, and that doesn't loop. The GP like to feel completely restrained. I LOVE airtime and first time on Shambhala I held on for dear life lol. It took a few rides before I felt safe enough for my usual no hands, no fear madness to kick in.

Helix at Liseberg in Sweden is a multi inversion rollercoaster with lap bars, whilst the restraints are slightly different it goes through most of the elements the hulk had, also it goes through an inverted tophat which produces some serious hangtime.

That is pretty much what is on Diamondback, minus the ankle restraint, and there is no way I would ride that if it went upside down. I'm not scared of coasters, but thats not near enough of a restraint. I'm betting we will see the new vest style of restraints on Hulk.

Twisted Colossus has the same type of set up including the shin restraints and I felt incredibly secure in it.

I apparently have a small vendor fear I didn't know about. There is a ride in Myrtle Beach I will never ride again. That is a first for me, I normally have no fear.

That looks a lot more secure than the "tennis umpire seats" on Shambhala lol

Out of all the pieces to get replaced, I thought the launch would be the top priority. Something a bit quicker and less power hungry.

I don't think this is the end of the tear down.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the launch tube stay, it'd provide something of a work platform to replace the track and/or the launch system, and whatever effects they may be adding inside.

Wonder why the loop and the launch hill remains. My logic was that the front half is relatively smooth so they would keep it, but they did remove it all except the loop. I also assumed that they would just attach LSM fins on the launch track after removing the spin tires. Now is the time for some input by those in the know.

I also wonder if the cobra roll might be slightly higher in the new incarnation.

I don't know anything, but I think they just aren't done yet. It is hard to believe, but that large crane is expensive as hell (I believe I heard $500-800 per hour a few years back). A smaller crane can take care of the rest. Let's see what happens... if anything.

I never said you did know, Teebin. But that is one expensive crane! Universal just needs its own crane division.
