Best of luck to Pokemon. But, Spider Man was attraction perfection. Nearly impossible to one up, or equal, perfection.

I don't see it as a downgrade solely on a slower moving ride because that translates to more time in each scene. Since I'm assuming we're getting Mario Kart-level of theming quality that's a good thing.

I agree that a slower ride with rich sets is what a Pokémon ride needs….but this is replacing Spiderman. That ride was nearly perfect. It’s just a shame to see it go. While I think this will be a good ride in isolation, it won’t hold a candle to Spiderman.

It really is something that that ride has been able to easily maintain that reputation for so long. Taking out that ride only means PKMN is going to be scrutinized a lot more because of that.

I'm with you there but it's already been decided so just gotta roll with it. :sob:

I wonder if people in Japan are as attached to Spider-Man as people in the US? I wonder if that popularity (or lack of as the case may be) factored into the decision-making at all. Of all the rides to swap out I thought that would be one of the safe ones, but it could be reflection of how confident they are in its replacement.

I'd guess the swap out was more to do with the expiration of the Osaka SM contract than anything else. They could have placed Pokemon elsewhere.

Any news on what happened/is happening to this? Is it simply behind walls and nothing more at this time? Are Pokémon rumors still circulating?

It is being worked on. The whole exterior is under scrims. Below are photos from November.

The rumor is 2026 for Pokemon.

I’m surprised we don’t know more about this. It’s a major closure for the park and the current rumor is that it’s getting replaced with what would no doubt be the biggest addition to USJ in a while, I‘d think it would be discussed daily

In terms of leaks, I think Universal has this one down pat. I'm getting the same vibes with how hard it was to figure out what Hagrid would be.

This thing is also located inside a box. No way to get a look at what's going on in there.

All I've heard (as has been reported on here) is that it's a full gut-and-replace, aka not just a retheme.

Pokemon IP at USJ is official and has already happened with the new parade and merch, however I don't believe a full attraction has been officially announced yet.

Villain-Con is apparently going up in Minions Land and somehow we barely know anything about it either. USJ is just built different.

I'm honestly curious on how different the attractions will be re: Japan's Vs Florida's. I don't remember who it was, maybe @Alicia or someone else but they said Florida wouldn't be getting the same ride Japan is. I know Florida is rumored to be getting more than just a ride (a whole land) so it makes sense. I just wonder if that rumor has changed and they'll both be the same or if there's any update about that at all

If I'm not wrong, the rumor for Pokemon at USF is to replace Simpsons. And I imagine the BTTF/Simpsons showbuilding will be completely demoed, so I assume there will be some differences in a custom build vs. replacement of Spider-Man.

Tomfoolery came across as someone who worked at Universal who was placed on the forums to drop updates to us the theme park nerds. But I am guessing he said too much at some point and Universal decided it wasn't worth doing anymore. Though FWIW towards the end of 2024 he did reappear and liked a couple of posts.
