Which of course can't be right as far as timing goes, because JP opened in 96, was built during 95-96, was being developed back in 92 at the same time as the first film, and Lost World was released in 97!

Yeahhhh Spielberg must've been tired during the interview :P cuz in every other one where he talked about the ride, he himself talked about how the ride started development even before filming started. "We designed the ride in a few months"...uhhhhh...no. lol

Haha oh that was your channel, Allen? Nice! :) Well I am glad you uploaded it! I was going to if I didn't find it anywhere.

Yeah, it's a bit odd that Spielberg goofed on his information in that 2011 interview. He is usually very consistent when he recollects stories, and expands upon them upon interviews. It really must have been a blur to him. I mean, helping with design before the first film was done, the production of it right before The Lost World was completed, as well as other films he was working on in the meantime. It must not have been as pressing on his mind or really been something he has though back on much since it had been completed. I guess he left all of that to Goddard and others to really put their prime focus on, understandably. He does at least further confirm he has still never been on the drop, lol!

I love that Kathleen Kennedy mentioned how they had to hear the Jurassic Park theme over and over again from the ride as they were filming at the sound stages for Jurassic Park 3. LOL. Maybe THAT is the real reason Jurassic World isn't going to be filmed there? ;) JK. And Sam Neill mentioning that all of the workers look like him (and Ellie Sattler, he forgot to mention!). ;) I really wish the documentary would have spent more time on the ride, but it was cool that it even got a mention at all I guess.

Speaking of BluRay, Allen, check out this upcoming Bluray Steelbook for Jurassic Park in May. So far it appears this kind of thing will only be done for the first film, but you could always buy the individual releases for TLW and JP3 as well (and eventually Jurassic World). It is definitely the coolest looking home video release package I have ever seen for just the first film:

Looks pretty cool but is it better than other versions out there?? Is there like a special feature not available in others?

Nahhh, I'll stick with the regular Blu-ray trilogy release. I'm not a stickler for fancy cases unless there's new content as well.

No, there won't be any new content, beyond having a DVD copy along with the BluRay (oooh aaah). But if you were just a fan of the first film, it's definitely the coolest looking standalone release.

It should be noted that the 3D BluRay of the first film features, of course, the 3D version of the film on a separate disc. What is interesting to note, for those not in the know, is that the 3D version of the film actually was from a NEW transfer. It's color timing matched that of the original film's colors in 1993 far more accurately, and it removes most of the grain compared to the 2D transfer that was done in 2011. However some think they went too far, probably in order to make it 3D, and the film looks a bit waxy in parts because of it. But some people (like me) preferred the transfer used for the 3D version. Sadly, on the disc, it can ONLY be seen in 3D (and I don't even have a 3D TV). Which is a huge shame. However there ARE ways to rip just one side of the 3D to watch it in 2D on a computer. But it's a process I'm sure most would not know how to do unless they really looked into it like I did. It's a bit time consuming. The 3D BluRay actually does have an exclusive bonus feature on the 3D disc (which still can't be viewed unless you rip the disc or have a 3D player/TV). It's a short piece that features Spielberg and others talking about the conversion process they did to make Jurassic Park 3D, and how Spielberg thought it was his one film perfect for the format. Not a vital extra, especially if you don't care about such things, but still cool to see Spielberg talk about it and basically defend his decision to let this happen in the first place. Then again... he did do that horrible poop to E.T. back in the day. But hey, at least he later redeemed himself when it went on BluRay (theatrical version only... hell yeah!).

If your also curious for the 3D BluRay, check it out here:

Haha thats so funny, I actually brought the 3d version last month because of the new 4k transfer.

It look great in 3d, but I only have a few glasses. So My 3dtv allows me to down covert from 3d down to 2d (i think the ps3 let you do this too not totally sure) I could test it on the tv in my room to see if it plays.

But the 3D > 2D from the 3d disc looks phenomenal in 2d when down covering. It looks like a brand new movie because of the new transfer, no more blue tint form the 90s. The audio is fantastic too. DTS-HD Master. Now just wish I could afford D-Box seats and I'm good lol.

Jurassic Park is very good in 3D. It looks they filmed it in 3D instead of converting it. It's great.

Jonathan has said it best, let Garner Holt Productions get their hands on JP: The Ride.

As soon as frikin possible. I love the ride to death but holy sh#t it looks pathetic nowadays. It's not even that old, that's what kills me. And with advances in animatronics, Garner Holt REALLY needs to create new figures for the ride. I'm tired of hearing groans and laughs from other guests on the ride.

I think the Mummy really badly needs an effects upgrade, but JP desperately needs an update more than the Mummy does.

JP needs an update badly. But I definitely don't want anything major to happen to it as far as changing it. btw, I love the music waiting in Line. JP is my favorite Movie and has my favorite score.

Here is something they certainly don't have at USH anymore... actual cardboard popcorn boxes that resemble the one that the Compies are fighting over on the ride (as you can also see in the art of my signature). Used to be sold at the snack stand when you would buy popcorn. I happened to save mine after all of these years, and did a real nice scan of it (both sides feature the same design).

High resolution scan in .tif format available here.
