A 200' coaster on the side of the park with the school and residential area would make ZERO sense. They get noise complaints as it is.

Jeez, I spend one day away from the forum.

I haven’t anything new about the new ride itself, personally, that’s why I said as far as I’ve heard it’s a wooden coaster - that’s just the last rumor I ever heard specifically (and that was like a year ago).

All of my info for this has been based on the Trike plot being cleared, Raptor Encounter moving, permits filed, etc. I’m still in the dark about ride type. Exciting times though for new stuff and rumors though.

I’ve heard another rumor that it’s going to be an inside dark roller coaster

I wonder if this new coaster project was also delayed because of the problems RMC has had with Lightning Rod and Steel Vengeance? If this was really going to be an RMC creation those kind of problems may have been road blocks.

My guess is the JW Coaster in Beijing is a b&m flyer.

Probably coming to Orlando's 3rd park.

I’m not sure a B&M flyer could fit into the space allotted on the leaked Beijing layout. For reference for those who haven’t seen it yet, the ride/show-building is about the size of the Hulk clone’s station and back half.

In my opinion a wooden coaster would be a huge mistake.

All Universal needs to do is place a decent coaster with light theming and there fine. River Adventure makes it up with its heavy theming.

Just sayin, if we get the leaked Beijing JW coaster, the Harry Potter coaster, and a Zelda land in five years, I better not hear anybody complaining about the lack of IOA additions for a while.

Why wouldn’t they go for the better option? The coaster could probably fit, not to mention that it and Zelda could be new park icons along with DC, Hogwarts, and Hulk. It could also explain the delay.

Because it’s not needed for this land.

So? Harry Potter didn’t need a new coaster. UOR doesn’t need a new park. But it’s nice to have those things anyways.

Dueling Dragons wasn’t themed at all and it was considered one of the best coasters. Besides the appeal to Jurassic Park is the ability to not see much. The trees and the environments is what it’s all about with the occasional Dino jump scare. In this instance just get a high speed coaster and the fear aspect is all that’s needed. Dino’s = Fear. The coaster is the fear. Simple.

The only reason there making another park is because they want to be an actual serious contender to Disney. At this stage there still a small threat.

Okay. Sure. The IP demands a great coaster, I get that. But why wouldn’t you go for the better option, instead of the cheaper option? This could potentially be another stand-out ride.

Because we’re already getting a heavily themed coaster with Potter right next door. You need to have some variety. HP can have the heavily themed coaster for families and JP can have the coaster for the adults(heavy coaster junkies).

Okay, let me make an analogy to you. Let’s say that I had a steak dinner last night. Tonight, I want a fancy pasta dinner. But I had steak last night, so that means I automatically have to have a cheap dinner? I have to eat hot dogs instead of the pasta I wanted? See my point here?

I look at a good coaster as the steak. It's awesome without a lot of fancy cooking. Potter is Beef Wellington.

BGT is getting the hot dog.

In my first post I said that it should be lightly themed. Meaning something similar to Hulk and DD. Hulk and DD were and are not cheap.

Allow me just to say this.

They had the fingers on the gun for the northern property if things went south (pun intended) on the property that they lost back in the Vivendi/GE age. And from all that it seemed, Jurassic was seemingly on the list in this regard for the north.

When they compete against Disney, it usually fairs mixed to negative results. And when they do risks and do things not typical; it gives them a better chance of standing out on a better light.

Back to Jurassic, does it have to be highly themed? No, but I am going to give SeaWorld a nice light to how they do theme their coasters. Manta (especially San Diego), Mako, and Verbolten have fantastic theming for something that has a lot of exposed steel.

Hell, looking to more recently; Universal did a fantastic job in the overhaul for Hulk on a theming scale, as it modernized the coaster's queue (even though it didn't add AC), and made a lot of nice thematic elements that while bare, do work.

I fully expect the Jurassic Coaster to be at-least, on a scale like Hulk. And honestly, I think that'd be perfect, as it's not themed when riding it, but the queue gives you a bit to look at and enjoy.

I’d still prefer whatever Beijing is getting, but I see your guys’s points.

But why wouldn’t they just clone it, instead of going through the process of designing an entirely new coaster? Especially if it is an E-Ticket, which it looks like it might be. IOA gets a great ride, it’s themed well, it becomes a new park icon. Everybody wins.
