I think it's close to being a wash: Smuggler's Run has the much better ride vehicle (being in the Falcon cockpit is a great selling point), but Star Tours has a more dynamic structure and scenes.

The original Star Tours was superior to both, I think.

Agreed.

I ride Smuggler's Run more than Star Tours, but I don't know if I actually think it's better or if I'm just burned out on Star Tours.

The magic of recreating the Death Star trench run just can't be topped by the "We're gonna kinda evoke some scenes you might have enjoyed in the Prequel and Disney-era movies" approach of the Star Tours update or the "Here's a random mission that has nothing to do with anything you saw in the movies" approach of Smuggler's Run.

I'm optimistic that the Smuggler's Run update -- featuring the most popular Disney-era characters and an Original Trilogy location that is fondly-remembered in Cloud City -- could be a good switch.

It's about time. This attraction has so much potential, but it was crippled by a really poor storyline and lack of meaningful participation for some of the riders.

This should’ve been there from the start. I hope they have more profiles to work with in the future.

I'm glad they're trying to address the problem with the Engineer role, but it will likely still feel like a lesser experience compared to the other positions.

Yeah, this update feels more in line with the potential the attraction has. Giving it some notable branching paths can help a ton with the sheer lack of re-ridability this attraction has for me.

As for the Engineer update, that'll work for me. Engineer is a role where you honestly have to ignore what everyone else is doing and focus on your panel, and utilizing that panel screen more could help.

The engineer position already prevents you from seeing the ride graphics out the cockpit. I’d hate to be forced to see less of the ride just to push more useless buttons.
