Thoughts on VR being added to Dr Doom's similar to this:

I think this would be the best option if they decided to go down the VR route. Have The Thing throw you up into the air with the Human Torch flying up with you. Mr Fantastic then catches you as you fall back down and sling shots you back up before you hit the ground and then The Invisible Woman puts you in a force field and returns you safely back to the ground.

I feel like the whole point of a drop tower is for the views. If you take that away, it's not the same. I was thinking of an interactive que with 3D screens and then adding a small 3D room with a pre show in the station area. This would mean expanidihg beyond the elevator doors. I love Dr. Doom and the type of theme it is aimed towards. The alley way with the industrial architecture and detail adds a great villainous addition to MSI.

I really think that if removing Doom and Storm Force was in the plans, they would have rerouted the back half of Hulk. There is a lot of room they could have freed up there to expand into.

The thought of hulk being extended makes me wish they would do a 3rd refurb to the ride.

I wouldn't say the view is important as much as the sense of height. Most of what you're seeing is behind the scenes stuff.

the lack of view makes it better for those who are afraid of heights. That why it will make it so much better. Same thing with VR and those who are terrified of coasters. Once they put those goggles on, its a lot less intimidating.

IMO people who are afraid of heights shouldn't be riding a 200ft launch tower w or w/o goggles.

Why? Do you think people should go on a thrill ride to stay within their comfort zone for a tame experience?

I mean that a person who is afraid of heights (I don't think) will want to go on it even if they have goggles. I feel like VR takes something away from the ride. VR should be used in Nintendo I think, but keep doom VR free.

All rumours suggest that Nintendo will be very physical and it's refreshing to see every person who has seen or heard what's coming, that everybody is enthusiastic and excited which is a lot more than can be said for Fallon and F&F. I know you're not excited about Nintendo but it's going to be the next big thing and it has the potential to top Potter.

Doom is prime for VR as the ride itself is completely unthemed beyond the queue.

Given the choice, I'd remove Doom and Storm Force to create a lot of prime real estate.

Fear of heights is because you can actually see the height you are dropping. Some for people scared of outdoor coasters yet are totally fine on dark indoor coasters because they can't see whats going to happen.

I'd remove storm but not doom. I love dooms theming in the alley way. I feel like taking away storm, you could have a nice wide entrance to a MSHI expansion behind doom. I know you prob won't agree, but I love doom. If it is torn down I would be devistated, already being that UOR is kinda low on real thrill rides. I think it adds character to the land and you could possibly have an expansion behind doom w/o having to take it out.

I would bet that more people are prepared to go on TOT than Doom for this reason alone when TOT is probably a more intense ride.

In the world we live in where Universal and Disney are always going to be compared. Doom is pathetic compared to TOT

Doom may be pathetic but its a perfect compliment to the skyline of IOA so it does serve an aesthetic purpose.

I'm sure that whatever replaced Doom would have a better queue experience than Doom.

So, it's like crickets on the OU Forums today....so.....to liven things up a bit.....Orlando Informer just ran a new article on Universal's Marvel Super Hero Island, and they brought up the long life Avenger's dark ride rumors. Any thoughts out there about that possible future attracion, or revitalizing some of the facades on the Island?

I've never been bothered by the facades, IMO if it was more realistic, it would look like New York over in Studios, I think the comic bookiness suits it. I would like to see an update to some of the character shots/costumes around the area, but not necessarily the "film" versions. Some new characters and "shows" would be nice, if that's possible. I would love to see some Shield agents (not from the show please!) fight it out with Hydra or AIM and losing the hero trike parade (that feels straight out of the x-men cartoon) would be a plus. More X-Men, some FF,some Avenger meet and greets. I mean Iron Man would seem to be fairly easy if they can use him.

With the right story and system the dark ride could be a blast! Tie it in with new characters and street shows, m&g's. I'm not really sure about using anything from Gringotts though, or any other ride profile for that matter. Like it or not, IOA and USF are really being enjoyed as one large park, if too many of the rides are similar (especially the E-tickets) that would get old real quick. C & D's can be similar, but the E's really shouldn't be.

Update the facades, yes; but more to what was seen of Hulk. A more modern, comic book, aesthetic as opposed to what is currently there. Replace the Spiderman Sign with something more three-dimensional, and to revamp the area in new colors that wouldn't make it as dated as it is now (along with removing all of the pop up's that reminds me badly of the Hollywood TF facade).

Then, shut down the Fantastic 4 Cafe, Dr. Doom, and the Arcade for an Marvel E-Ticket attraction with the Iron Man patent from a few months, and that would lead to a modern-revamp of the area; with it now being more akin to the more modern comics.

That's how I'd see it, although that is my own opinion.

Microsoft put through an update to my system overnight that rendered my FFox inoperable. Much time wasted trying to make FF work. Currently using IExplorer. :frown:
