They were created so that people of all ages could have fun together, not just the Pre-K's.

I have the same opinion that flats should be spread throughout the parks, but at Animal Kingdom there's no where else you can put them before you start taking away some of the natural landscapes of the park.

It's a shame the park doesn't have a carousel with varied animals instead of horses somewhere in Discovery Island.

The park needs expansion aside from fixing Dinoland. The park has a few spots, but the most obvious is right behind Kali. It had been rumored at one point that they were going to build Australia here, and that would still be a good idea imo, but honestly, a DAK-tinged Fantasyland type area I could get behind. Build a land that is distinctly DAK, while at the same time building rides based on Jungle Book, Lion King, Nemo. This is also probably the only type of area in DAK i'd say Zootopia would be even semi-acceptable at.

It doesn't help that Pandora ended up costing so much more than originally anticipated. That may have hampered the available funds for near term expansions.

Eh, DHS and Epcot needed a lot of work though. MK was also getting a bit stale as it hadn't seen any new additions in awhile. DHS got a shot in the arm (although it needs more) and Epcot is getting it's own shot in the arm. Hopefully at D23 next year, we'll see something announced for DAK, because even if it's announced next year, it won't be opening until 2025 or later at Disney's glacial pace and by then, DAK will have been 8 years without a major investment.

Where DAK was really hurt was Rivers of Light. With Pandora, they will at least make their money back on that land... eventually. Rivers of Light was just hundreds of millions of dollars straight down the toilet.

Not just RoL but the nighttime safari installation for KS, the nighttime performances around Discovery Island, Tiffins, etc. It's a complete boondoggle.

Someone mentioned relocating Triceratops Spin earlier when talking about building something based on a new IP or whatever here. Ice Age comes to mind as something they could use for the area if they don't use Zootopia and tbh, i'd be much more in favor of Ice Age as it actually would fit the extinct theme.

Back to Triceratops Spin though... they should figure out what they want to do with this space with the plan to relocate the ride to DHS. It could almost seamlessly fit into TSL right at the entrance on the right hand side. Theme it to Trixie from the TS movies and viola, DHS has a "new" ride and DAK is getting what would pretty much amount to a new land. Win-win.

This area is made for Toy Story. It's one of the few Disney parks that don't have Toy Story in it and the movies made the most money and sells the most crap and that is the proof in the financial pudding the company needs. Theming is always cheap and it has a sheep, dino, horse, bear, dog, pig, rabbit, bird and aliens in it that are, looking at Pandora, a perfect fit for AK.

Rex and Trixie's Dino-Rama!

Starring Ducky and Bunny at the Carnival booths.

I'd like to see Endor replace Dinoland. Have an Ewoks treehouse village with climbing structures, etc for kids, an Ewoks M&G and a Speeder Bike family coaster flying through the Redwoods.....would be so cool.

Surely this is just going to be an empty plot for a while, no?

Well, look at it this way. If nothing was planned for the area for a while, then Primeval Whirl wouldn't be getting demo'd at this very moment. Big parks have shown time and again that they usually won't spend the money to demo anything unless they've got it's replacement lined up.

Donald Duck's new meet and greet spot in front of a closed attraction's former marquee?

Destination D23 is November 19th at Walt Disney World, which is the 5 weeks being referred to above. It's not the D23 Expo (which will be next September), but they have announced big things on the off-year celebrations before, although mostly it's just been a long news drop of secondary things adding on to already announced projects. Technically though, this would've been the normal Expo year, so they may have more than normal. In the past, they've announced Harmonious and MMRR coming to Disneyland.

We have a thread with all the info about the event over here:
