Isn't it already supposedly outselling the PS4 in some countries? I think that's a pretty great start considering the launch isn't the best :)

No. The preorders for it are higher than what PS4 preorders were in some places.

Correction: no one has picked one up yet. We have no way of knowing exactly how many people have fully paid for their preorders but technically those units are already sold.

Speaking of preorders production is ramping up because of how good they are.

Yes however it's still managing to gain those pre-orders is my point, and therefore doing better than the PS4 in that respect. What will be telling will be the months after launch to see how well sales hold up.

Those are not sales, there's nothing technically about it. As for presales I say don't pay attention to those really, I didn't pre-order a PS4 and still got one day of.

Favorites from the new ad: guys playing at work, guy continuing to play when his girlfriend is being very obvious (lol), college professor walking in with all his students playing Switch.

There was some talk about whether Nintendo would have a Switch superbowl commercial a few pages back... Well, he have that answer. I noticed on the Nintendo EShop today a banner at the top that says "Watch our extended commercial to appear during Super Bowl LI". It runs over a minute and 40 seconds and length, so who knows what segments will actually make it on during the game.

As for the ad itself, its more of what we,ve seen already with people playing the Switch in a variety of different places like a laundry mat and college class. The notocable difference in this one is it goes out of its way to also highlight the games on the systems.

This is the one that'll actually play during the game. I kind of like the longer one better. Shows much more and could get more people interested.

At a $5 million rate for a 30 second slot, that could add up to a lot of money.

I think it would've been worth it to do the full extended version during the game. Shows a lot more than just Zelda.

In a sense, I found it surprising that Nintendo didn't start it back at the Wii U.

It makes logistical and financial sense, as it benefits giving Nintendo an avenue of revenue for them to recieve, while also giving way to treat those who do purchase it with unique rewards that would be exclusive to those with the payment program (like how Xbox and Playstation handles it but with Virtual Console titles).

It's a risk, but it's worth it for the long run as it'll benefit Nintendo in many ways. Plus, considering how much it's worth yearly for Xbox Gold and PS4, it's essentially a steal.

Yea its a steal but based on the recent hacks due to play to pay revealing people's personal information with it happening again like 2 days ago, I would think Nintendo would be smarter than that.

If it's personal info outside of credit card, then pay to play is no different than free. If it's just for the credit card, I'm sure they'll sell it as a gift card in stores or as eshop money.

So, is he just crazy, or crazy like a fox? Apparently he knew the Wii U would be a failure but he obviously has a ton of faith in the Switch.

My highest guess would be 70-80 million or similar to the 3DS which currently sits at 65.

Predicting long term sales is foolish right now, I'd say outpace WiiU sales and 3rd party support, they'll get positive buzz and momentum and move forward. The Wii was such a fluke I don't even think THEY know why it did well (spoiler: it was well marketed and packed in with Wii Sports in Japan and USA).
