That's more facade than I originally thought was going into this building. Will there be a Comcast sign perched at the top as well?

Original designs had it on the top side of the building facing the park entrance.

A comcast sign would be a bad idea. A LOT of people hate their cable and not many know they own Universal. I just couldn't see it going over well.

Huh. No shame. That really would complete NY though.

I suppose that is why Universal Orlando is such a failure recently. Blackstone and GE were beloved and now they are gone. :)

You misunderstand - I said nothing about the parks being bad. It's their Cable service that everyone hates... and Comcast just happens to be known most for Cable. The average joe doesn't know they own Universal.

I'd argue its their customer service, not the product; but that's a different discussion.

Anyone who has seen a Universal movie recently and pays attention should.

"A Comcast Company"

Also I've seen ads for the parks on the back windows of their cable vans.

Maybe.

I just don't think most people pay attention that much.

I don't think people care. Hollywood has a gigantic skyscraper in front of it with the words COMCAST, no big deal there.

I'm not saying it'd be a huge problem, but a theme park is different than a downtown building in LA.

I could see how they might try to pull off a forced perspective effect with the facades.

But will we get a giant xmas tree and ice skating rink in winter in front of the 30 Rock building? That is the real question... I mean Universal normally has a giant tree just across the street near Macy's anyway...

I don't think putting Comcast on a sign is a good idea either. Talk about a company with a horrible reputation. In fact, I'm pretty sure the theme park community is the only one that can talk about Comcast without some sort of contempt or disgust.

....uh this is at the theme park?

Universal_City,_Comcast-NBCUniversal_Headquarters_New.jpg

(the building sits at the bottom of the hill that leads to USH and can be seen from several areas in the park; here's the lower portion)

(also this is not downtown LA)

Ok, fine.

I wasn't meaning to be too serious about this... I don't care about it enough.

I bet if you asked an average resident/tourist if they think it means Comcast and NBC are one company or they share the building over 90% would say they just share the building. Comcast as a cable company has a horrible rep, so while I agree a blatant Comcast sign could be a negative thing for guests, I also would expect most of them to think Comcast is sponsoring the ride and still wouldn't make any connection to Comcast owning Universal, making it overall pretty harmless.

I'd have to agree, most of the GP don't realize that Uni and Comcast are the same company.

Well the Studio Tour outright stating that NBC/Uni is a Comcast company would probably solidify it for them. USH is pretty blunt about it, although it is a real working production studio which contributes.

That Comcast building in LA is damn ugly, but that's besides the point.

The entrance to Studios is bad as it is, being greeted by a giant Jimmy Fallon and a Comcast logo as you look down the major stretch from the front gates to New York is worse.
