Fact remains that UC seems to do better work when WB is riding herd. You can add Hulk to the list of UC's mixed reviews, too.

Nintendo will come around and it'll be "Nintendo made them" and then the third park and it'll be something else. Caveats and asterisks are everywhere if you get nitty gritty.

Perhap's you forgot about USH's Universal Blvd; their Springfield; and other changes outside of USH (UOR's CW changes, Cabana Bay, and others..). Not to mention, you should wait on that till Volcano Bay, Nintendo, and SLoP opens.

Springfield was a solid B grade. The centerpiece of the land is still an antiquated simulator from the early 90s.

Right, just like "Kong may be the greatest ride in the world." All we have to go on is what is open and what is under construction -- and that alone suggests Universal has not maintained the standard they set with Potter. Just as they didn't capitalize on the bar-raising Spider Man.

That's their M.O. and it reflects poorly on the company no matter how many online fans drool over photos of construction projects.

I honestly completely agree with this. The caliber they have shown with external ips is breathtaking. In house however, they seem to focus more on the big picture (corporate synergy for example). More placeholding than anything else. There's nothing ground breaking about Kong/FF/Fallon, but they all serve a purpose - to better the resort as a whole.

P.S before anyone argues that Kong was not intended as synergy, remember that the ride was in development far before the film rights switched over to a different company and the release date postponed.

In an industry where major projects on the caliber of Potter open every 5-10 years is that a standard anyone can hold up to? I think people look back on Universal attractions with more fondness for them than they actually had back in the day because they were panned as much if not more than the attractions now.

I give up. The ride was in development before Legendary pictures started production on the movie and Universal only had distribution rights.

The ride is also based on the Peter Jackson movie and of course Kong 360.

I still think people are slightly overreacting. Kong isn't getting as negative reception as it seems; in fact, it's getting better reception than Gringotts did initially. Like with EfG, it's gonna get more popular over time. I'd hardly call that "not maintaining the standard they set with Potter." It helps that like EfG, the surrounding facade/area and queue are fantastic even if the ride itself is more divisive.

Exactly. The reviews to date have been consistently better than Gringotts were in the early stages. About the only times I've seen ho hum reviews is when the outdoor portion isn't being used and the 360 motion base isn't working, so those negatives are to be expected. Kong, like Gringotts, is the type of attraction that gets better with repeat rides, which is the way most great attractions are (see Disney Imagineer great Tony Baxter's comments). Reviews are consistently rating it, along with SM, HP & Gringotts, as the best attractions at Universal.

I was wondering the same thing. But the permits said that it was to be a 30 foot by 60 foot tent. This looks more square.

I expect that plastic is to keep something or someone from getting wet and that is all. We don't see that very often do we.

Why? It never rains in sunny Florida. ;) Or, at least that's what the Florida Tourist Agency would like you to believe..

For the talk on a tent, I just recall when they were working the store in City Walk, they housed the store in a tent like structure. Could they be opening an NBC store early by housing it in a tent?

The permit said they were putting up the tent today. Could have been delayed due to the bad weather, though it did not stop work on Fallon. I'm not even sure where a tent that size would go. Seems like it would get in the way either in front or on the side.

What if its for the ice skating rink in Rockefeller center.. huge tree and everything..? They could be putting it up now for HHN stuff (it's right by the Repository SS) so maybe it'll be used now for getting everyone set up with the VR goggles, then for Christmas it'll be used as the indoor skating rink?

..idk what i'm saying.. its Florida

Tampa has a rink in a tent every year but I don't think that is what this is for.
