Rix Flix just put up a new video stating that he believes Mummy will go down in 2020 for an extended updated. His guess is 6 months long and starting around September if they’re following the Hulk model.

No disrespect to Rix Flix as a person or anything, seems like a nice dude, but he's got like zero inside information usually. So id just take it with a grain of salt.

I dont see any reason why Mummy ever would need to be retracked.

Same reason Hulk was. Coaster track has a certain lifespan and every 20 years is the recommended timeframe for replacing track that runs a minimum of 12 hours per day 365 per year. That window is closing for Mummy.

Then again, Space Mountain should’ve been retracked at least 15 years ago if not more and they keep skating by with it so it’s merely a guideline. Safety issues can arise if you run too far past the recommended timeframe, which is getting to be the case for SM.

If they’re going to go through the trouble of retracting the Mummy, they might as well design it to where the coaster can have tighter turns and maybe a couple of pops of air time. Maybe add some digital mapping while they’re at it.

Call me crazy, but don't indoor coasters have a longer lifespan than outdoor coasters?

Hulk was a far more intense coaster and if I remember right, a lot of degradation of the track was in the tunnel under the bridge where mist was spraying non stop on the track. Premier are still in business and I imagine they're still able to support the coaster.

Space Mountain though, that needs a retrack yesterday.

I think Mummy's upgrades are more needed off the track but I'd be happy to see a fan favourite get some love.

You also have to keep in mind mummy is indoors in controlled conditions so it doesnt go thru nearly the same wear and tear hulk does. Mummy is also far less intense as Scott noted.

Some B&M's have been around a lot longer than Hulk was... in all kinds of weather...

Not apples to oranges. A good chunk of B&M's are in parks with off-seasons. Hulk also deals with a higher output than others.

Islands is the most visited park in the US (third worldwide) with a B&M.

I’m convinced that Hulk would have had the highest number of riders of any B&M in history, even with it opening long after others.

Busch has had one for decades (six years before Hulk) . And off season ones deal with extremes in temperatures Florida never sees. Hulk and DD are the ONLY B&Ms that have been torn down in the entire existence of the company. So either that ride them really, really hard or aren't running them to spec.

1 coaster makes it the exception, not the rule - and Kumba isn't exactly the best to compare it to considering it's seen better days. Hulk was torn down because Universal decided to invest more money. DD was torn down for a better option.

Not going to comment on your last statement, but the most recent POV I've seen of Kumba it looked in great shape.

I didn't say it was in disrepair...

Kumba has been considered one of the greatest, and in recent years it's a lot rougher than what it used to be.

They ride them really really hard.

attendance at IOA vs. any non-Florida Park with a B&M isn’t even comparable in any way, shape or form. Universal also has the money where other companies are squeezed for cash.
