Better fit. Knock down Shrek and put up a new building Transformers style. Unless they can use the existing building but I doubt since the ride is supposed to be two floors right?

Yeah it makes sense to have two Illumination themed rides next to each other. Wonder if something marvel related is going to the theater land if this rumor is true.

The last thing USF need is another headliner right at the entrance. That park needs to fix it's entrance, not make it worse.

I don't know how accurate this is, but screamscape is reporting that the Toon Lagoon theater land may be used for another project that's in the works for IOA and that SLOP may go to studios instead. What do you guys think?

Do you have the link?

I think that's a better situation thematically imo. But if true, the timing on that would be crucial. Shrek is dead smack in your face at the beginning of the park. I suppose losing it wont hurt capacity that much since it's mostly short waited anyway.

Universal Studios Florida

Also, If something changed very late in the game; I could see why, but I doubt that TSLoP got moved from its original spot at IOA to this location.

I like Lance, but don't forget that Transformers was going to be a all year haunted house, Transformers was going into Jaws area, and Hulk wasn't going to be B&M.

I feel this is a good idea. USF needs less 3D attractions and more AA-filled dark rides, and SLOP would take out a mediocre family 3D ride with a much better family dark ride. They could potentially fix flow by having the entrance being on the back side, similar to Transformers, rather than smack dub at the front like DM. In fact, they could use this as an opportunity to improve the "Production Central" theme or even get rid of it all together. Give SLOP a New York apartment facade, update DM with the Gru's neighborhood facade, slightly retheme HRRR, the Music Plaza stage, and Transformers, and just absorb Production Central into New York. Do those + update the theme/story of ROTM (maybe into it being a museum in New York?) and then the theme issues in both areas are resolved.

So how does absorbing all of Production Central into NY work when the main stage is based on the Hollywood Bowl...?

Maybe he means have that street of Shrek and DMMM be something like "Illumination Lane", but yea; that wouldn't make sense due to the stage.

Where would you put SLoP in USF? I think @captainmoch made a good point of putting the entrance on the other side of the building to avoid the problem of it being at the front across from DM.

So in Lance's speculation, what is coming to TL Theater then? Avengers Ride?
Personally I'd also think SLOP would be better as a Shrek replacement, have the whole area redone as Illumination Blvd

D'oh. I forgot that it was based off a real stage. :bang:
Illumination Boulevard would work, though.

I'm not quite sure... I probably wouldn't put it in USF. Assuming Nintendo is taking up KidsZone, I don't want it going insanely vertical and replacing Shrek and having two (3 if you count HRRR as being at the entrance) headliners right at the park entrance.

USF needs to straighten out their entrance and make for a much nicer, cleaner entry.

They need to make it a animation version of New York to fit it with dispicable me.
The entrance should be pulled to the circle are in front of the entrance if it was up to me.

Not to mention that Islands of Adventure really could use as much new stuff as possible to balance out with what has been done at Universal Studios over the past few years.

But what if Minions and SLoP was more like, oh, an area of Toons, maybe around a lagoon?

Shh, don't give the big guys an idea, they'd pefer a giant media pressing for special events to be announced, and cupcakes to be given out.

Oh, wait; is that the wrong park? hmm..

(As the rumor has seemed to change from 2017 to 2018, wouldn't it make sense to change the threads title to be more..accurate to the rumor?)

Legendary Island has a nice ring to it..

I pictured Shrek becoming a Hello Kitty attraction, but that is all speculation on my part..

IOA needs the new rides to be honest..

IOA could use more new rides... but USF also needs new non-screen based rides. Almost everything scheduled for USF has heavy screen usage, in a park already full of heavy screen usage. SLOP would help very much.

I'd say, either have SLOP replace Shrek and make the opening area "Illumination Boulevard", OR build SLOP in the Toon Lagoon amphitheater spot, as well as a moved Minion Mayhem, Super Silly Fun Land, and a Minions Movie dark ride all in the Dudley spot. Popeye and the Olive can stay, as that IP is still relatively well known (and may even be getting a reboot soon) and Popeye is a great ride all round. Then, both the Shrek 4D and original Minion Mayhem buildings are demolished, and a proper entrance plaza to USF can be made.

The first option seems much easier and helps with the screen problem in USF, but makes the entrance area even more congested. The second one seems much harder, but helps fix Toon Lagoon, the screen problem in IOA (which isn't as bad as USF, but is getting there with FJ/Kong/Spidey), and the entrance problem in USF, and slightly helps the screen problem in USF, although by removal, not addition.

IOA has literally seen 2 (3 technically counting Hogwarts Express) total additions since the park opened: High in the Sky Trolley, Forbidden Journey and aforementioned Hogwarts Express. Kong of course will come on line this year.

But the park is just lacking overall. I hardly ever find a reason to go there as a local whereas I end up at USF very often. Comcast created it's "heavy screen usage" problem by adding a ton of rides like that within the past few years, this isn't something that just happened. IOA needs additions much more than USF needs MORE additions, just non-screen ones (as much as I agree with that sentiment).
