Ride pretty much confirmed for UOR at this point I guess. I like how they put more into this concept than they did for Despicable Me. The ride is fun but they could've done more than reusing Jimmy Neutron.

That reminds me: should we have a thread in the UOR section? It's obviously coming to USH as the construction is currently in progress, but Orlando is very, very likely if not already greenlit. I guess one in the misc section (as we're not 100% sure on the park it'll go into) wouldn't hurt, yes?

I think its being called for UOR too early. Probably more so dependent on next weeks drop. If the drop is where they still makes at least 50mil, then I would say sure anything less then I'm not so sure.

Some are saying that it's already hit the numbers that Comcast wants to see, and it's easier to redlight a project a week later than just delay it outright.

My one fear is that this ends up being a flash in the pan in popularity (like the Lorax a few years back... does anybody still talk about or look back at the movie?), so by the time we get the ride it's already a bit dated. But since Pets has a lot more franchise potential, I don't think that's that likely.

Also... pssst, insiders. If Pets comes to Toon Lagoon, could that mean the beginning of some other TL updates, or even a full overhaul?

SLoP has appeal to kids and animal lovers/pet owners. Lorax didn't have as much of the first and virtually none of the latter.

The Kings features Syndicate license for much of Toon Lagoon expires in 2018. Since I can't imagine them renewing it you would think they start redoing Toon Lagoon around then. They certainly have lots of material to work with between Dreamworks, Dreamworks Classics and illumination.

Because I think over the past few years it's obvious that Comcast wants to pump money into UOR like crazy since it's probably their biggest money maker and they see even more potential out of it.

I was hoping it would replace Shrek...

I think Shrek is safe for the next few years, for all the reasons @GAcoaster outlined. I'll add that while I think it'd be great to have Despicable Me, Secret Life of Pets, and other similar properties all in one area together, I don't think it'd be wise for that to compose the entry area of USF, for a variety of operational and thematic reasons. Eventually I'd like to see "Production Central" and the soundstage aesthetic go away and Hollywood expanded through that area. I'd like to see Shrek go, too, not because I dislike the franchise or anything, just because I think better can be done, both for that location and for a Shrek attraction elsewhere.

I really thought Seuss Trolley was going to be THAT ride but.. it's length prevents it from being so.

I wonder if there's any chance they'll ever reconfigure that ride so that the two sides become one long track.

I doubt they would ever reconfigure it into one track, but boy would I like to see it.

Those are the same reasons I want Shrek to go and I assume plenty of others.

I have seen someone suggests that Shrek should go from Universal Studios and get a larger, better presence in the new park. I am all for that idea.

The 4-D theater fad has more than worn off..I believe Shrek deserves a dark ride..Shrek one and two are some of my favorite CGI animation films ever..I just don't feel Shrek fits in the Studios anymore, but maybe that's just me

I love good 4D movies. It's Tough to be a Bug is a fun time. Shrek is a decent movie but a lousy 4D experience.

Well Tough exceeds most 4-D movies because it is presented as a show that you're watching rather than a film..I also enjoy that show a good amount..

Got my tickets for SLoP for tonight at 10:30! Been looking forward to this movie since the first teaser trailer last year and cannot wait. Even if the movie is mediocre, I know I already like the characters, so I'm gonna have a good time.

Here's some video I shot this week at the entirely Pets-ed out store in Toon Lagoon:

As for a re-do of Toon Lagoon, I think squeezing a SLoP ride/mini-land in-between Marvel and Toon Lagoon would be fine. Worked for Kong. And at least in this case the actual sign entrance to Toon Lagoon isn't until after the carnival games/amphitheater section already anyway.

And if they do not renew the Kings features Syndicate license in 2018 I would hope that they only re-do the main drag there and not touch Popeye and Dudley on the other side. If I am thinking correctly those licenses are outside of the Kings deal and in my mind are already pretty separate (the way that Lost Continent used to be two lands in one: Sinbad's Bazzaar and Merlinwood). The first half is all comic-strip characters (static) and the second half is film and television cartoon characters (animated). No reason in my mind they couldn't re-do the comic-strip half to be more animated characters and still keep Popeye and Dudley as is (since they're incredibly popular and highly rated attractions). My two cents.

I think Dudley should be safe since Universal now owns it due to the DWA deal. I would hope Popeye is as well.

Popeye is my favorite rapids ride I've ever been on. The theming and story is so good and it's fun too! (Unlike some other similar rides that will remain Kali.)

Universal picked Dudley in the DreamWorks deal so no rush on that. Popeye is Kings Features. They could always try to just keep Betty Boop and Popeye from Kings and ditch the rest just as they kept Spongebob and Dora after ditching the rest of Nickelodeon.

I think they should bring in other classic toons like Scooby-Doo and Tom & Jerry.

Scooby sounds good to me! And they already got the walk around characters.

Universal picked up so many new and classic cartoons and characters in the DreamWorks deal I just can't imagine them going after anything else until they use those IPs first.

Well if it was me I would save all the DreamWorks properties like Shrek, Dragons, Panda, etc. for the third park. What classic characters did they get that are on the level of those I mentioned? They still make new shows with them. Also, as @AliciaStella pointed out, they already have Scooby walking around so do they already have the rights to him or are the walk around characters their limit of what they can do?
