I know it's the slow season + effects from the fire, but full admission price today is $109 ($13.63/hr) for USH, open for 8 hours.

Disneyland is priced at $104 today and open for 14 hours ($7.43/hr)
Disney California Adventure is priced at $104 today and open for 14 hours ($8.00/hr)
Knott's Berry Farm is priced at $66 today and open for 7 hours ($9.43/hr)

If this is a similar operating budget cut to Orlando's from last year, it's in inexcusable when you're charging double the hourly rate Disneyland is.

and please stop using that math. It doesn't work.

Yeah. I think now is the time to employ a little grace.

They could be facing staffing issues due to TM’s being displaced. Obviously the area in general is likely seeing reduced visitors as of now.

If this sticks around long after the fires have ended, then we can start getting a bit prickly.

Exactly. I know we rush to judge these days, but this is an extraordinary time for LA, especially locals. A friend went to lunch at CityWalk and was the only person eating in the restaurant.

No, it’s not. If it was, we would’ve seen it much earlier than just recently. That area has been severely affected by the fires and some people have been displaced or can’t work right now, so it makes sense they are reducing park hours.

Also, why is this in the Secret Life of Pets thread? lol

I’m not all that inclined to give Universal the benefit of the doubt. If it’s truly a temporary closure because they are hurting so badly on staffing, fair enough!

I should have been clearer in my post, but I am fully aware of what's happening right now and I should have been more specific that these operations may have been an entire result of what's happening.

I hope it's a temporary change. It just stood out to me how much $/hr USH charges over DLR.

Can I ask why? I understand that each park has something different to offer but they've started to compete at similar levels, and I'd imagine everyone on here can agree that we can compare Disney & Universal prices and how they operate the parks?

If I'm wrong, please let me know why so I can understand your POV. Both are theme parks with immersive experiences and in the SoCal region.

I just don't think it's all that helpful a way to think about the value propositions offered by both parks. I think it's wild that Universal can charge nearly as much as Disneyland for a day ticket, but that has more to do with how I think of USH as a park (it's good, but there's not a ton to do) vs. Disneyland (imo the best theme park in the world) than it does with how much you're paying compared to length of experience.

Did Universal just get bought out by Merlin? They’re sure operating like it has.

I only brought up the stat to showcase how wild Universal's pricing scheme is compared to other similar offerings. I never mentioned anywhere that we should only use that metric to compare theme parks.

Like you mentioned, Disneyland being priced lower than USH when they're open later and offer more to do is just wild and I will never understand it.

Maybe it’s best to move this sort of discussion into a more appropriate thread. I believe this one would work

https://forums.insideuniversal.net/threads/state-of-ush-whats-next.15424/unread

Edit: Feel free to discuss SLOP opening later than the park or anything related to that attraction here. But I feel like the park wide talks and operational discussions would be better over there. Thanks
