Replace Simpsons with Minions when the contract is up. It’s an easy conversion, as that’s the ride system Minions is at all the other Universal parks.

That’s why they need to move the entrance to Sunset Blvd so Hollywood is the front of the park.

 Agreed. I've been saying the same for the past decade.

I think it's time to get these old simulator ride systems out of the park rather than playing musical chairs with the IPs.

especially the DM simulator...It is such a lesser quality attraction since they took away the 3D. Night and day difference. It was OK before.

I was going to say do something similar to Beijing with a Minions boardwalk type thing

I'd rather have Minions version of SLOP as the anchor e-ticket rather than another iteration of the BTTF ride system

I think the 3D version of the ride was about on par with Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera (meaning it was good). Minion Mayhem arguably made better use of the simulator movement in conjunction with the 3D, but Funtastic had the better story/pacing, so it was basically a wash.

Without the 3D... not a contest.

There’s no way that ride system can survive much longer. When Simpsons goes I expect everything in that area to be Demi’s

As it relates to Shrek's demise, I feel like all of the minions options kind of suck.

If they replace Shrek with something else, then minions remain an under-represented IP with only one bad ride.
If they replace Shrek with more minions then the front of the park will feel dominated by minions.
If they move minions to a new, bigger land somewhere else then they're left with almost uselessly small open spots on both sides of the main pathway unless they nuke the entire front quarter of the park.

I'm not sure what the least bad option is.

I would really hate to see anything even remotely permanent enter Simpsons or Kidzone at this point. Pull a Jaws->Diagon style conversion and just bulldoze the park from Kidzone all the way to FFL and start fresh. There's a ton of room to make some truly impressive stuff that doesn't have to be makeshifted into 30 year old buildings/ride systems.

I want Studios to go under the knife hard after EU. Unrecognizable, to an extent. The entrance also needs a bulldoze. The ampitheatre, Shrek, Monsters, Minions, RRR can and should go for something better thought through.

Oh hey, Shrek thread. :bonk:

Pretty sure there'd be room for a SLOP-level dark ride on either/both of those plots, especially if multi-level.

Universal, bafflingly, just doesn't want to put any there.

Good riddance

I like the Springfield redux of the area, but it could be gone tomorrow and I'd be just fine

Shrek is slightly larger than SLOP but minion mayhem is noticeably smaller. Ultimately though, all you would be doing is replacing one-off C/D ticket screens in a box with one-off C/D ticket screens in a box. I'd like to dream bigger than that.

The way you feel about Simpsons and Kidzone is how I feel about the front of the park. Getting rid of Shrek opens up tons of possibilities for reimagining the front entrance area and production central while replacing it with something permanent (such as SLOP) would basically lock the current configuration into place for another couple decades.

I would love a complete DCA style redo of the front entrance

Buuut I don't see that happening

Rest assured, I do not want the attractions currently there to be swapped out for more screen-based attractions.

I'm down for the entire back section going... with the exception of MIB. Please don't take my baby away :(

HHN just would not be the same without a trip to Moe's. Bulldoze shrek and minions, expand production central into something cohesive and beautiful as an entrance to the park, and put a huge minions land in kidzone for the kidz. THEN we can talk about the simpsons leaving.

I love MiB with all my heart, but I've made my peace that its' days are numbered between the aging IP and increasingly hard to maintain ride system. In the long run, it would probably be for the best that it go quietly into that good night with FFL, Simpsons, and Kidzone when the time comes. It'd be a lot of newfound space to play with.

Well at least we'll probably still have a couple more years with it. Plenty of time to finally max out. *sniff*

If Uni sticks to their 'nearly every other year' schedule for a new attraction in each individual park, and that's historically a pretty aggressive schedule., it'll take ten years (to 2032) to just get 5 replacement attractions. So, I would
doubt all of these wants will happen soon. Probably just a slow gradual process. Shrek and Fear Factor, according to Alicia's rumor info, appear to be the only imminent changes.....These wants are probably way more 'wishes' than reality.
