It’s clear that from UOR removing 3D from Minions and cutting it from Supercharged last minute that that they believe our complaints were more focused on too many 3D rides, and not screenz in general.

I agree that this appears to be what they took away from the complaints which in turn seems like a crazy misunderstanding of how people experience attractions. The fact that this was the message they got from all the complaints regarding screens and the rides feeling "same-y" from the general public makes executives at UOR truly seem inept.

It's like they took the survey results that said people felt there were too many 3-D attractions and didn't realize people were using that term to refer to screen-based attractions at large and not LITERALLY the 3D component only. :bonk:And then when they removed 3D from screen-based attractions and essentially made them WORSE there was no further course correction years later despite the lack of scores improving for these attractions. Who is asleep at the wheel over there?

Mark Woodbury's master plan for USF was to make it the "projection technology" showcase.

At least this only seems to be a problem for USF. Maybe there's a benevolent soul at Universal Creative quietly pushing all the lackluster screen ideas towards USF.

Despite that, I think the shooting gallery idea might be fine. Despicable Me has lots of cool guns, so maybe you'll be handling physical replicas. It'll certainly be better than watching Shrek 4D.

My idea for the longest time has been to put all the
screen rides into a single attraction.

BTTF, Shrek, Nicktoon Blast, Hanna-Barberra and just have them rotate weekly. It’s basically all the same ride system.

It would be a great compliment to the legacy store.

For me, the pandemic really brought out an issue w/ 3D attractions as glasses and mask wearing turned into real foggy experiences (even at IOA w/ Kong and Spidey). I hadn't realized they pulled it from the Minions but it must really take from that one by going to 2D.

I think when you have a good ride system and the screen supplements the experience (i.e. Transformers, Spiderman, Gringotts, FJ) that's one thing. When the screen is the ride (meaning a lackluster ride system) - then you get the ill feelings.

The only benefit is the way we did the parks is so either Minions or Shrek, not both, them move onto NY area and go from there. When we would come back for a 2nd day at the Studios we’d do whichever one of Minions/Shrek. Both take time, which not that I’m trying to drag out my vacation but when you’re at the resort for a week I’m in no rush typically, so helps in that sense I guess to have something “new” on your 2nd day?

I doubt many approach it this way however.

I think expecting Uni to build something so substantial in such of short period of time is a little silly. I mean they are building a huge new park down the street. So I believe their focus is completely on that versus an USF “rebuild”.

Of course I would love a dark ride to go into that space. But to be honest this walkthrough seems like its going to be a good family friendly attraction that kills time. With a lot of the back office stuff moving to the new property that creates ample opportunity to expand.

I unironically loved this show. We went on it with some friends for the their first time last month and the attendant there did an amazing job at the spiel during pre-show.

I will sorely miss it.

It's never ogre.

How can you love it if you can’t hear it over the ride system?

I dunno, I feel a little bummed about this. Never mind that you can watch the film on Netflix, this has been in the park for as long as I can remember.

Thank goodness this is finally going away. The pre show was it best part.

Maybe I missed it. But are the previous rumors of SLOP going into this location still alive? I think it would be a great addition to this park. But they need to fix the restraint issues they have in California.

Who knows. But it’ll be fresher than a 3-D film you could watch on Netflix that overstayed its welcome by a good decade, so I don’t really care all that much. If I don’t like what replaces it i will continue to not go into the building, as I did with Shrek

SLoP would be a great replacement and it’s unfortunate y’all aren’t getting it. The ride’s delightful. The restraints aren’t really a problem - that’s a lot of Internet hyperbole. Are they necessary? Not really. But I haven’t seen any issues at the loading station the dozens of times I’ve been on it.

I feel like the Villian Con replacement is a lateral move. This will still be a space I don’t visit seeing how it’s an augmented reality attraction. Could care less.
