While nothing can be certain based on one rumor, this seems to make a lot of sense. GP and fans alike would like it, and even with all this Covid/economy situation, this could still happen. Being a near clone, many costs would go down, they'd be able to reuse the station (I figured there was a reason it wasn't torn down with the ride), not to mention that materials are relatively minimal for this sort of ride (meaning it doesn't need a lot of supports or separate parts for a ride of this size). And while the chain as a whole is likely to suffer a lot financially, seeing this is their crown jewel park in the chain and celebrating a milestone anniversary, I could see whatever remaining major addition budgets from other parks funneled into this. If any park in the chain were to get anything major, SFMM would be it for those reasons. It's the most cost effective, major addition they could do.
It probably would mean, though, we could likely kiss some much needed entry plaza restroom renovations or other such maintenance projects good-bye. Give and take.
