In all seriousness, is this a real marketing strategy used by Universal? Make it seem like there aren't as many screen based attractions just to get people in the gates?

Yes, exactly. The suits got together and came up with a marketing strategy to fool people into thinking the screens have all been shut down And I need a sarcasm button

I don't think it was that ridiculous of a thought. If I hadn't come here and gotten the low down on the attraction or watched a pov, and was going purely on how this attraction has been marketed, I would have no idea that it wasn't a drive through predominantly animatronic sets.

You mean like one of those wild animal parks? Or the safari tour at Disney? Only? With King Kong? Or a drive yourself through kind of attraction?

You're so right Sparky...Good sarcasm...Yeah, Kong would be really boring if it was only AA's & sets. Screens are needed for action & thrills in this situation. I could see Kong as a Disney ride, AA dolls on a slow boat ride singing, "It's a Small Kong Island After All". There's 11 AA's between the queue and ride. How many AA's do these people want. Geez.People need to read the reviews on the review thread. They are resoundingly very positive. Even way more so than Gringotts at this stage....And please read HTF's synopsis from early on before any other site knew about the attraction. And then read the stuff Teebins been saying for two years. It's all there in black & white. . It turned out almost exactly what they said it would be.

Really? You'd have no idea? When most of the advertising for the ride utilized this footage from the ride film?

I have never been on Haunted Mansion either. Again, my kid was freaked out by the entrance. Kong has a very scary entrance. I know it stinks not being able to do things because of little kids, but them's the breaks when you have kids.

You missed my point. My daughter is not scared of things from the outside. Lines don't scare her much, but many times she gets to the front of a Uni ride and doesn't want to ride. In this case we put her in child swap and we ride. If I wasn't on this board I would probably do the same here. But in this case there is live actors jumping out at you. That child someone saw crying could have been fine when they saw the ride and the parents may have been doing child swap. What they probably were not expecting was someone jumping out at their child in the line because no other line in all of Florida has live actors.

The should have put a bypass to child swap. So the parent waiting for their kids goes to the child swap room and the rest of the party waits in line. It really would have been much better for all. I hope they start doing this and send people thru the exit. If your child needs a potty break they send you thru to child swap after you are done with your potty break and you meet up with your party there.

I would blame the parents if they had a decent solution for child swap, otherwise the parents probably don't realize how scary the line itself is.

You don't believe single riders is a good option? Sadly, I don't believe they direct families there. Too, I am not sure all the guys and teens would appreciate it. Uni has known this would be an issue for years on this attraction. It's tough to be a theme park.

Ok. I get your point. Since the set up is done, it appears that front line TM staff is going to need to communicate to parents that there are frightening things in the queue. People don't research things ( we missed star tours on our first Disneyland visit April 2003. Yeah we had no idea it was star wars. We thought Star Tours sounded lame. ) a sign at the ride won't work either, see my befuddled typical family never reading the sign at Star Tours.
:hail: I give, you are correct. I was being judgy and forgetting what it was like with young kids

Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited for Kong next week. I hope to ride it multiple times. It's probably the thing I'm looking forward to most at Universal, and this will be my first trip there so there's a ton of other stuff I'm looking forward to experiencing as well.

I remember being a kid and my parents took me to Disney the first summer that universal was open. I wanted to ride Jaws and Kongfrontation so badly, but they had the board out front that summer that said which attractions were running, and we drove by and both those rides were down that day so we didn't go.

I'm glad I found this board because it's provided me with a lot of information I wouldn't have had about USF otherwise. This ride sounds like a top notch attraction and I'm pumped for it. But I'm glad I know what to expect. I just found the picture of the ride on the map misleading, and it is.

And you can't say "everyone has known this attraction would be like this for months". The Average Joe Parkgoer doesn't read these boards. They mostly read guide books and reviews that say stuff like "Universal is just a bunch of 3D screens, FJ gave me the worst motion sickness of my life".

There are people still hoping F&F will end up with a test track like ride system.

Hope you have a great ride, with good weather, so you can experience the great reveal from the outside portion.

It looks like they have worked most of the kinks out of the ride system at Kong. Hopefully Fast can resume work again soon. This is assuming Universal just wanted to make sure that system worked as opposed to a redesign.

I was expecting a giant AA Kong to give us piggy back rides through a jungle walk through attraction. Or at the very least kong would at some point get in the truck and drive us all to safety. That would have been awe/wait for it/some
