I have ridden three times and the motion worked each of those times. Has anyone noticed any particular vehicle more prone to problems than the others?

Funny that you ask... Every time I've had Doc many things don't work.

But it would be a stretch to call that a definite or anything besides association.

Is Doc the paleontologist? If so I had him my first ride with no problems that I can recall.

Seriously 9 out of 10 times the motion base doesn't work on this ride. Painful to hear all the negative feedback of people getting off the ride vehicle every time. Just rode again and multiple people saying what a waste of a building cause you just sit there and watch screens and don't move (I'm thinking yeah that's cause the ride is not working).

The driver also drove with his head turned all the way to the right the entire time, lol.

I think "9 out of 10" is a little exaggeration don't you? Maybe I am charmed but my 7 rides (some during softs) I had motion every time....

I've been going most weekends since softs and it has only worked maybe twice.

We finally got to do Kong today. Got in line around 12:45 with a posted wait of 60 minutes. As we were entering the sign jumped up to 75 minutes. They weren't running the outside portion so you'd think the capacity would be a hit higher, but we didn't end up getting onto the ride until almost 2:30! I appreciated all of the AA stuff and the execution of the 360 scene was technically impressive. The two others I was with however were severely underwhelmed. The motion base definitely didn't work. Combine that with a nearly 2 hour wait and no outside portion and it's easy enough to see why they were so let down.

I wanted this ride to be a worthy successor to Kongfrontation, but it doesn't quite get there IMHO. Maybe that opinion will change with more fully functioning rides in the future, but Uni clearly needs to finish working the bugs out of this attraction.

Did you let them know that there's supposed to be motion so they could give it another chance in the future?

Yes, I did. And they will try it again but probably not until it's a 30 minute wait or less. I should have asked a TM about a re-ride but we were just happy to be out after that brutal wait.

I actually wanted to ask everyone that. How often are they offering rerides on Kong if something goes wrong?

Re-rides due to technical problems are just part of guest service and are usually allowed anytime at all rides (provided the ride is fully operational). I imagine you may be turned away if you seem like are joking or lying.

I guess that's a testament to the projection quality

Should've mentioned that in my original post, the projection quality is great. We were literally jumping back at certain points (especially in the first scene, without giving too much away). I was definitely impressed.

Re-rideability? Yes, I think they built that in here. I have 7 rides in so maybe 65 more x 5 drivers and I can say I have done it all? ;) I like what they built, it will be relevant for years.

Very true, the one complaint my girlfriend had was that in the scenes there was just so MUCH to look at and she sometimes overwhelmed and in my head I was just thinking how much re-rideability this has because of that. Also because Kong at the end gives me GOOSEBUMPS every time.

That certainly sucks, the motion base worked for us but we went first thing in the morning and got on the second truck.

EDIT: Also in regards to the outside portion being down, we rode Hulk a few times in the mid-morning to early afternoon yesterday and on the last run, got blasted out into a downpour! So happy I have glasses, and made my gf wear her sunglasses (she realized they were on her head 2/3 through the line and I wasn't letting her go back to the lockers).

When I had a recent problem on Spider-Man the TM at unload asked our whole vehicle who would want to reride.* I guess my question regarding Kong is if the TMs are offering it to guests themselves without having to be asked for it.

*This caused one of the guests to comment "they would never do that at Disney" when we got back on.

This is the Early Park Access people lining up through Jurassic Park for Skull Island (Kong didn't officially open until 9am with the rest of the park, but we were allowed to line up for first dibs)

The EPA line for Skull Island snaked around Jurassic Park, even going down towards the bridge next to the rock climbing wall for JPRA:

You would think with this kind of line Universal would start opening Kong for early access.

One would think, but at least they're halfway there by allowing EPA people to get into line first.

True. But this means the most popular new ride in the parks has a king kong sized line right at park open.
