How was the Hydroman wetness level effect?

Didn't get to notice any yesterday because of my rain jacket, but when I rode last week the first felt slightly too much while the one near the end was minimal

Most of the effects have been fantastic lately. Only issues are the heat effect with Doc Ock (can only really feel it in the back row) and the second water effect has been pretty weak. Really great overall though, glad they've been keeping most of the effects in top shape.

Not sure when they increased the amount of fog after you get hit with the levitation ray, but it makes the effect 10x more effective. I even heard a few gasp last time I rode

I've also noticed the green lighting in the SCOOP when you get hit, it's also a really cool detail!

And I've been some days in the past few months where the SCOOPs are all noticably damp when you first sit down because of how intense the first Hydroman effect is, especially when I arrive later in the day after the ride vehicles have run through countless times haha!

Wow, this is the first time seeing Spielberg riding on a full attraction.

I love what Spielberg has to say towards the end of that clip.

"This was the one ride, on paper, that none of us thought could be done. We thought the design group was about five years ahead of their time. And they delivered this, surprised all of us."

In a lot of ways, Spider-Man still feels ahead of its time, and still right at the cutting edge. It's been often imitated (by Universal themselves, and others), but nothing has yet surpassed it. For me, anyway.

It's possibly the most perfect theme park attraction of all time. The merging of physical and practical sets, the wonderfully thrilling but not intense movement profile, the use of lighting, heat, water, vibrations, and live pyro to make the experience feel really tactile and alive, but not corny and forced in a Shrek 4-D kinda way. The perfect encapsulation of the IP and characters in a bite sized portion that feels absolutely complete as a story and experience. The really wonderful HD redo of the visuals, and the incredible soundtrack and Voice Acting performances that tie it all together. Even the comic book theming in the queue with the coloring making the office feel like you were walking through an actual panel of a comic, and the multiple well-animated and funny saturday morning cartoon pre-show videos throughout.

Other rides may have more. More budget, more scenes, more drops, thrills, animatronics, etc. We've even got other Spider-Man dark rides now to compare it to. But I don't know of many others that utilize those qualities in such an incredibly effective way as Spider-Man at IoA. How cool that we've been able to experience this for so long.

There’s perhaps no attraction out there that is greater than the sum of its parts more than Spider-Man. So ahead of its time and so many intangible qualities that make it an all-time great.

Plus it's pretty reliable. Not many extended breakdown issues, which so many of the newer E tickets seem to experience.

They’re the same as the ones from Japan, but I believe many are actually new, it just took us this long to upgrade. New vehicles have real screens on the front is how to tell the difference. But they run smoother and have slightly better everything.

I thought I noticed some new cars on it the last month or so. Some of the cars looked brand new as they were noticeably shinier and less rashed up than some of the cars.

The only thing I didn't like about the ones I think were new was that the ride audio was a lot lower than on the older cars that are still in use. Not sure if that has anything to do with the quality of the new speakers or it could even be as simple as them needing to adjust the volume on the sound. I didn't notice the screen on the dash being real though. I'll have to look for that this weekend.

Are there pictures/video of what these new cars look like? I'd love to see how the screens look!

Has anyone ever managed to save those sneak peek video clips when the ride went down for the refurb? The link that went back to those sneak peeks was archived, but not the videos. I hope someone was able to archive those.

When Doc Oc shoots you with the anti-gravity cannon, in the POV it looks like they took away the large green light behind the screen. Is it still there, or did they take away that crappy effect?

Funny enough, that green laser beam is still there, even today. but they reprogrammed it to go off after riders had left the scene. It goes off a few seconds before we fully leave.

This video made me realize why I love this compared to other simulators. The physical sets are a lot better integrated to the screens compared to most. I'd say Rise/Resistance does improve on a lot but this did it first. I've yet to ride Beijing's Jurassic ride but I've heard that might be better than them.

Still amazed that 25 years later it hasn’t been surpassed. Often imitated, but still the best of its type.

Still the best Universal ride ever. Hopeful we’ll finally see it surpassed this year.

Still one of the best dark rides ever made, and while for the most part, everything is in top-notch condition, there are a few things I think should be addressed in time for the Epic crowds:
  • The last few times I've ridden, none of the doors have been working. While this only really affects the hallway after Doc Ock's flames (the vehicle is looking around like there's nowhere to go before the doors open, which... doesn't really work when the doors are already open lol), it'd still be great to at least see that one fixed. Cat in the Hat has been having the same issue.

  • Doc Ock's flame heat is very inconsistent. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes you feel it way too late and the scene is already about to end (which is what's been happening in most of my rides), and sometimes they do not work at all (granted it could just be turned off some days cus it's already hot enough outside!).

Besides those two nitpicks, the ride is still as beautiful and charming as it was when it opened. Never get rid of this.

Maybe I've just had bad luck but the flame heat hasn't worked right for me for over a year, unfortunately I think it got missed during the refurb
