I feel with the progress of Moe's and Krusty Burger that we can expect the Simpsons land to be opening in phases. It's not like they need to wait for the big ride to open the area. The Simpsons ride is already open so there isn't that need to wait for everything to be complete, just like WWOHP. And awesome it would be if Moe's was open when Transformers opens in May!

MAN THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!

I really dont think this is going to be opened in phases. Infrastructure work appears to be moving along well but they still have a ways to go and its been said that when one set of walls is finished they will be erected for a new phase of construction. I firmly believe they are working on facades to close it up and then do infrastructure work while the rest remains visible. I think when they finish these facades, an announcement will be inevitable due to appearance and noticeability. We already know what it is but average guest wont until they see the words go up or the final walls are removed.

I think they mean phases as in "Resturant, Then Flat, then gardens"

Looking great! With this expansion, is MIB going to stand alone with FF (if that even still remains open down the road) ... or will the area just merge under the name World Expo/Springfield?

I've been waiting for a new stage show in the Wild West Theater for a while, not sure if this is possible with an American Universal audience, but an abridged Wicked from USJ or Les Mis would be fun, and feel like a better fit for a cultured World Expo. Oh, and SERIOUSLY do something different with the Carbon-Nate spot. Looks really tacky in 2013.

Izzy B; Sorry to get off topic, but to answer your question. There were silver rockets on the lagoon platform in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. There may have been a ride after the Monongahela Monster, but I'm not sure. There was also a ride called "The Octopus" that was very similar to the flat rides they've been describing on this thread. It was located next to the Carousel by the Paratrooper. It had a name changed a few times so you may be thinking of that ride since it was ground level and not on a platform. The Octopus ended up at Idlewild with a different name. I rode it in the 90's at Idlewild and was motion sick for a good while. Kennywood had a habit of shuffling rides off to IdleWild and the New England park they owned, and then bringing them back a number of years later under different names. So names get confusing and were sometimes interchangeable with different attractions.

Thanks. I do remember the black one at idlewild, I think it was a spider themed ride? Yes, I remember rides moving all over the place in that park. Kennywood started my love of theme parks, even did a research paper on it in high school and read all the history books about it. Anyway... sorry for going off topic, just brought up memories seeing that pic :)

This may be another case of plans changing and HTF not being able to elaborate until someone mentions it (like Androids), but Attractions Magazine has pointed out that what was believed to be Kentucky Fried Panda looks alot like the restaurant called "Gulp and Blow"

KFP is a go!

Androids was the only thing I couldn't talk about due too sensitive timing and nature.

KFP is definitely the better of the two. Plus it's an obvious parody of KFC and Panda Express, which are both very recognizable brands. The Gulp 'n' Blow would've been too generic for the GP.

Springfield expansion? I thought that big multi-facade building was just a restroom, as a way to try and compete with Disney.
