It sounds like it's going to be really good.

Unfortunately it's still just a simulator, and I'm never really blown away by them. Hope this is an exception to the rule.

I thought the same way. Simulators never impressed me but this one did. In my opinion, it definitely is an exception to the rule especially if you are a Star Wars fan. It absolutely blew me away.

It's interesting you should ask, they've used the actual Carrie Fisher from the old movies, and it's the "Help me Obi Wan, You're my only hope speech." Only they've changed the voice over, and added "Help Me Star Tours, You're our only hope." It's pretty rad. But yes, it's the Carrie Fisher Hologram from the original movies, but redone in stunning digital 3D.

That sounds cool!

2 articles I dug up online. One involves some cool pics of the queue and some concept art ( you'll have to scroll down to get to it), the other one is a review of the Star Tours in Disneyland.

So, my question is.. exactly how annoying is the pilot during the ride? Personally, not a huge fan of the character despite its importance in the universe itself. Trying to avoid any spoilers there, just in case. ;P

I haven't been on it yet, but I'm assuming you think our Pilot is ACE. Am I correct with that assumption???

C3P0 is very non-annoying. At that he's pretty awesome as is the whole ride. Got to ride it 3 times yesterday and I was highly impressed.

ITM has posted it's In depth spoiler filled review here. It also includes audio from the queue and the ride itself, which is really cool. Is it just me, or after listening to the audio, does (Spoiler-highlight to read) Darth Vader's voice sound off? Am I crazy, is it just the recording or does it sound like that in the ride too?

What a neat article. I didn't read too much of it cuz this is one of the few attractions where I want to be surprised by what happens next.

I would agree that it sounds off.

Are the destinations equally random? I rode 4 times today and I ended up at 1 location 3 times and another twice!

The thing is..its nice that they say they got James Earl Jones back, but at the same time the guy is very old. The voice patterns when people age change a bit, especially when compared to something the guy did more than 30 years ago. It might of been a better choice to go with a seamless to the ears soundalike.

FINALLY, Star Wars fans no longer need be embarrassed of Star Tours :)

Honestly, this turned out as equally impressive as the first version was disappointing. It legit feels like you're in the SW universe. I've been disappointed all along that they never decided to move beyond a simulator for SW, but this is no standard simulator ride. And it's the first 3D I've witnessed (and I mean 3D attractions or movies) where it's completely forgettable that you even have the glasses on. The 3D image is flawless.

And the Threepio animatronic is top-notch, even if he is just sitting in a chair.

Much kudos Disney for your treatment of my beloved Wars. You are officially redeemed for that pathetic first version of Star Tours .

Yeah, sorry. There's no *SPOILERS* tag on the thread as a whole, so I figured I'd be better safe than sorry about naming C3PO as the pilot. Personally, I kinda wish Ace was the pilot, but I suppose it's a small price to pay for what people are saying is an awesome ride. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that he's not annoying. Not that it would stop me from riding, but I've always worried they'd put too much emphasis on C3PO. Should've just rung up Paul Reubens to do Ace. ;P

Or kept Rex. They could of easily made that joke still work with him being ordered to have his memory swiped clean at the end.

Are there elements from every star wars movie in the new star tours?
