So because episode 7 is coming 2015 how will it effect the re-release of the other five movies that have yet to be released in 3-D? I'm still hoping to be able to see the original trilogy enhanced into 3-D.

I was planning on seeing my favorite Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back in 3-D since I've seen it every time it's been released in theatres already.

This, times a million, is why I'm happy for Disney Star Wars.

Every member of the production team for VII needs to be shown those reviews, then tested on them for proficiency

And We Have Our First Solid Rumor About Who Will Direct STAR WARS Episode VII...
Published at: Nov 05, 2012 2:15:25 PM CST

Nordling here.

Steven Weintraub of Collider is good people. I can't speak for the veracity of his source, but I don't think he'd write about this unless he felt confident that the information was somewhat solid. 2015 is really not that far away, especially when planning a tentpole release like STAR WARS Episode VII, and I'd honestly be a little surprised if we didn't have some good indication of who the director of the next Episode would be by at least March of next year (and likely much sooner). So when Steven says, a la Collider, that:

I’m hearing that Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kick-Ass, Stardust, Layer Cake, and X-Men: First Class, is in talks with Lucasfilm to helm Star Wars: Episode VII. My sources tell me this is the main reason he dropped out of the X-Men sequel (which Bryan Singer is now directing).

then I'm inclined to think that somewhere in Lucasfilm Studios, the name's been thrown around a bit.

Steve goes on to say that this may well have been the reason that Vaughn dropped out of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. However, Matthew Vaughn has dropped out of projects before, including THOR, and it could be pure conjecture as to why he left this time. Perhaps he felt stifled under Tom Rothman with FIRST CLASS and didn't feel inclined to repeat that stress (although Rothman is gone at Fox now). STAR WARS is a hell of a carrot to dangle in front of any director right now, and as it becomes obvious that this deal has been in the works for a while, Kathleen Kennedy and Disney may already have decided who they want. Again, more conjecture and rumor, but Vaughn sounds like a name that would at least be suggested.

As far as Vaughn's skills as a director go, STAR WARS would seem to be a decent fit for the man. He's tackled fantasy before and he also knows how to give the material the "grit" that STAR WARS fans may want. There certainly would be worse directors out there helming this material. What do you think? Would this be a good choice for the franchise?

Nordling, out. Follow me on Twitter!

I think his work with First Class and Kick Ass knows that he knows how to keep a movie very well paced, the biggest problem witht he prequels was the pacing, I think he's a solid choice.

Don't bring up Kick Ass. The less Kick Ass that's in my life, the better.

The movie wasn't badly made...but the story itself is just bad. I like how they softened it a bit for the movie, rather than making EVERYTHING miserable, but the story is just terribly constructed and mean spirited.

Mark Millar is just awful, IMO. I'm not happy Fox brought him on board to oversee the X-Men/Fantastic Four movie universe.

I agree with Skip. Not near the top of my personal list, but a solid direction to start the series in.

Think of how many $500 autographs he could sell.

Now, we need a solid script and good casting. Also, a great set designer.

The ideas are already there, actors and the director (like Ep V) will make the series.

Ive always wondered what a 70 year old Han Solo was up to these days. My guess would be playing bingo and couponing all day followed by an early bird dinner every night . . . . . . . I - 14

He would be pot bellied, with a hearing aid (all that blaster fire) and a mild blue milk addiction.
