And i'd agree with that. I wouldn't say much more than 6 months though. Tbh, we're lucky it's only 6 months... if they hadn't settled on SOA, this thing would be at least 1.5 years out from DL imo.

Of course that's all due to piss-poor management though.

So potentially 6 months behind... would that mean we might be looking at a Christmas 2018 opening in DL, Summer 2019 opening in DHS? If the land is really going into the LMA/SOA section, there's simply no reasonable excuse for Disney to allow this thing to open in 2020... right?

This was posted on the Parks Blog, virtually confirming that SWL is going on the SOA/LMA plot:

The construction site in the background is where the former Premiere Theatre was/San Francisco facade. Off to the right you can see the facade of the city hall building that was right next to the LMA entrance.

And yes, there's no reasonable excuse. I'm sure they could come up with one though.

I'm well aware of the demolition going on back there, but I also know some "insiders" still weren't willing to say it was for SW. That parks blog post seems pretty definitive, however.

While I'm not thrilled that the prime real estate that was theoretically going to be used for a Phase 3 (that the park will likely not see) is being taken over, I am happy that Disney should (should!) be able to get the land up and running faster than if they were expanding into the parking lot.

Didn't mean to insinuate you didn't know, the post was more a general post for those that may not be completely following things.

No worries! I can see it might have come across sharper than I intended.

maybe (i doubt it) with it opening second it wont be the absolute mad house that Disneyland will be since its opening second
as far as where it is opening if putting it in the back of the park gets it open faster im all for it

how does this work with Star Tours? Won't it be in a completely separate area? Awkward...

I was just looking at recent photos of Disneyland's future Star Wars Land. They are so far ahead of DHS. Almost all of the 14 acres has been cleared of foliage, most buildings flattened, and the dirt moved around. DHS, almost nothing touched. So easy to see how WDW is treated as the wicked stepsister of the Disney company.

Even if this was an option, I don't know how they'd do it. I don't think they can remove anything else from DHS for the next few years.

It is dated, the technology has moved on so much since it first debuted. It's even sadder that the same tech is being used for the new Iron Man ride.

I think all of the MAGIC IMAGINATION from Disney Imagineering, somehow magically (via Harry Potter special spells or a reverse boomarang Mickey Fantasia spell, maybe), got transferred to Universal Creative,

Per the Disney Parks Blog, today is the official groundbreaking at both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios for the project...

Take a 360-Degree Look at Star Wars-Themed Land Groundbreaking at Disneyland Park | Disney Parks Blog

However, given that the 360 look is from the Disneyland construction site, I believe Disney is trying to fudge things a little bit as it relates to Hollywood Studios' progress. They want to make it sound like both sites have just begun, but one is clearly, demonstrably much further along than the other. So, once again, WDW's fans get short shrift.
