Seems to be a lack of viewing points over SWL construction area from what I have noticed so I think these are going to be the only good shots we will get each time of the progress. Normally quite a wait though between fly overs with the WOLF GT photos (Always posted by @MickeyXtreme on twitter) but I still appreciate that someone does do fly overs!

Wow, based on that first image, I didn't realize how much more space they're clearing for the expansion.. it looks like it's going all the way up to S Studio Drive, and if I remember correctly they're going to be clearing more land south of S Studio Drive for a new entrance? maybe more parking?

Red area is what we see being demo'd now, you can see the previous green area in the bottom left corner now cleared.

hs-demolition.jpg

This also gives me much more hope for the new fireworks launch location. I think the worst decision was moving it so far away (yes I know, it closed down the back half of the park).. but once SWL opens, we'll be able to get a much closer view.. I'll imagine they'll have some type of backdrop in SWL that will serve as the central focus with the fireworks going off behind whatever it is (similar to the castle in MK).

The land is not going nearly as far to the road as you have it. They just cleared land for a construction entrance at the moment. Once the project is wrapping up, they will plant trees around the boundaries again to hide the park.

So is the land occupied by the Backlot Tour pre-show/water tank/load area and the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area not going to be part of Star Wars? If it is, when will they start to clear that space? If not, then what's going to happen with those structures?

They are going to be demolished, it's just a matter of when. It seems like they're being very methodical, going parcel by parcel of land

"Methodical" here having the meaning of "at a snail's pace."

It's just mind-boggling that that section of the Backlot Tour area has just been sitting there, seemingly untouched, for nearly two full years.

You think that's weird. The Kitchen show that was in WoL is still the behind the walls to the left of Soarin'.

Actually part of it just got demo'd, as seen in the recent aerials. The unload zone and the gift shop are history. There's also a GIANT hole that has been ripped out of the wall where the pre-show was. It seems as if they're ever so slowly making their way over now.

All of the SOA Facades that backed up to Muppet courtyard are now gone, btw:

That's a fair enough point. I didn't even notice the unload area and gift shop were gone in those pics, but they sure are.

At least this is more visible progress. It sure looks weird, though!

A few things I came across this morning:

Content from the following link:
Here’s what it looks like when Disney World is demolished (to make way for Star Wars Land)

Good aerial footage of demolition so far and the website link for WDW's article which has loads of photos:

In the last pic, it's not even rubble either. It's actual construction going on for Toy Story Land

I think Early 2020 is probably the most likely.

Let's just compare it to Avatar. Avatar started in Jan. 2014 and is looking to open somewhere around April-June 2017. That will be about 40-ish months. This seems to be a fair comparison because of Disney's timeline and the amount of work that went into Avatar.

So basically we're looking at anywhere from 3-3.5 years for SWL, which would be either late 2019 or Spring 2020.

I wonder if they actually get this open late 2019 if Universal might try pushing up the opening of Nintendo for the same time?
