Like others have said - the statement of a seat covering coming loose and sitting in the front row contradict one another.

Does anyone know where the rumor came from that it was his 5th or 6th ride of the day?

I work in the insurance business, and the tall tales that get told by attorneys can be unbelievable. Most the time the goal is to deliver enough bad press to try and force a settlement

From everything I gather, it seems that an unfortunate set of circumstances led to a tragic accident. Sometimes things happen without any preluding occurrences.

But I'm still on the outside of it all.

If he were sitting in the front row, the only metal would be part of the restraints, or if something were to fly off, which Universal and the state have so far indicated did not happen.

I think this is the key point here, at the moment there seems to be people quick to blame Universal/Mack and other horrendous people blaming Kevin himself. The reality is of course that neither could be to blame, in the traditional sense.
I think it was important for the family to explain his independence at the presser, to counter some of the most judgemental comments that we know have been said. I also think its right to ask for transparency, there's not suggestion that Universal aren't being so, however the litigious nature of America works against that happening - and of course theres a possibility that Universal could be completely open and look totally insensitive. One thing that was clear from the presser is that Kevin was clearly part of this community and shared the same passion, that's important to remember when you see some of the most toxic elements of the community saying awful things.
I may have mentioned this already, but the reliance on a singular eyewitness statement is questionable, people fill in the gaps in their memory when they are under severe stress even if there were ten witnesses they would all have slightly different versions of what they saw - CCTV will cover that problem.

I was on Blue fire and Voltron all last week - the nature of the lap restraint stopped my head from going anywhere near the metal handle (which isnt on SDR), the seat in front or the bar on the train and that's clearly by design, a persons torso stops that and im tall and (relatively) slim, my bigger concern was falling backward and hitting the seat back

I have no doubt a settlement will eventually be reached on this. Too risky to take it to court and drag out the legal costs just to lose to a jury. The question will be , how long will the attorney delay the mediation.

I've noticed a lot of people online trying to defend universal very strongly and be extremely supportive for the park but it can definitely become toxic, I didn't like some of the stuff I saw.
maybe just no one was at fault, maybe it really was just an accident. but I mostly only see blame placed on him. it's getting difficult to see the comments about this accident online.

Mr Crump represented Tyre Sampson's family, that situation was complicated and as far as im aware the ride manufacturer and ride operator were the same people, I dont believe that was ever reported. But with that you had a situation where a ride could be physically manipulated and was knowingly modified to make it unsafe, and as a result a young boy sadly lost his life. So there was liability with both the manufacturer and the operator, because neither situation should have been able to have happened. All this was found after the fact, but at the time the same thing happened where somehow Tyre was blamed for what happened to him, there was some awful comments blaming his size and other undertones.
It's beyond doubt that Kevin was never at fault for anything, and was acting in good faith as he had ridden many coasters before with no issue so had no reason to doubt it.
I think it's also fair to assume that prestigious manufacturer like Mack would never knowingly skip anything that risks lives and the same can be said for Universal - both have everything to lose from cutting corners and no reason to act in bad faith. I think it shows peoples' lack of maturity if their first reaction is to defend Universal, there's likely nothing to to defend and only things to learn from an unforeseen situation.

There's a video from a Paramedic that works at Disney World (gathering from his comments) who posted a video on youtube about his theories. I'm not posting the link here since it's still just guessing at this point since he wasn't there, but he did have some interesting thoughts. His channel is FireMedic Adventures

Yes, as you said some very interesting thoughts, many of which had popped up in my mind also. I don't want to get in any of those
specifics since this is such a controversial topic. I thought the same of that attorney also. But, bottom line, as I posted earlier,
a good Medical Examiner could ascertain much of what the paramedic's guesses are with a thorough examination of the body. Perhaps
the Med. Ex. did and that part isn't public yet.
Another interesting point is that the Paramedic said he had knowledge that Universal had altered some of the Stardust seating in response to
complaints from larger bodied persons, and added those modified larger body seats back in July....I can personally understand how that can have an effect.
I'm a pretty normal size (5'8" 170 pounds) with no need for a modified seat. But, a number of times, just to fill up all the seats on Gringotts,
they've seated me in one of those higher modified seats. Well, my feet don't touch the floor, and without the ability to steady my body without the
foot support, I get thrown around on the ride during the few high thrill movements. I've rode Gringotts hundreds of times and I hate when I
get placed in one of those modified seat placements. Not having leg support certainly makes a really bad difference.

So with Universal and the State saying the ride functioning as intended, is the prolonged closure an indication that something actually did go wrong with the ride?

Woman says she was injured on same Epic Universe ride where man was found unresponsive, later died

The woman's complaint says Stardust Racers caused her head to shake violently and slam against her seat's headrest.

This is offensive on so many levels
