Less than Splash?

It was thrilling enough for her.

That's nothing. A kid peed on Spaceship Earth when I was working there.

Splash is the least thrilling for sure with 1 major drop and 2 baby drops, otherwise its oook.

BTMR is more thrilling to me than Space Mountain, but Space Mountain has the added element of darkness.

Look at Universal with the Trex in JP, when it was down and IMMEDIATELY following Spring Break last year, they took the ride down and fixed it.

Disney should have immediately fixed this issue and not waited so long because "OMG we have people coming to the park we can't ruin this now"

They did try to fix it. They were testing different modes and tweaking the mechanics, but ultimately realized that the yeti is a long term project. It is literally its own structure inside the mountain, which would collapse if the yeti was moving. They didn't want to close it just after it opened, especially without researching methods of fixing it that don't require tearing half of the ride down.

How is that scary?! And if it was simply poor bladder control I would have thought it would be on Universe of Energy or Great Movie Ride.

Of all the things discussed on theme park forums, I never thought I'd be having this conversation.

I was a bit disappointed that the majority of the coaster is off the mountain or "inside" (hurray darkness) the mountain -- and a very tiny percentage is actually on the mountain -- but the difference between Matterhorn and Everest is that Everest is much nicer to look at it. It's beautiful. And if there was track tunneling through it all over the place we wouldn't have that.

Please don't compare Matterhorn to Everest. That ride is over 50 years old, better, and currently down for a six-month rehab which will include some real plussing and brand new ride vehicles.

Not sure what ganja you're smoking but Matterhorn is in no way better than Everest. I could ride Everest blindfolded and have ten times the experience than Matterhorn in its hayday.

Having just rode Matterhorn 4 months ago, yeah its got nothing on Everest.

I haven't been on Matterhorn in two years, but man....it's just great from what I remember. In terms of theming, scenery, and story...yes, Everest easily trumps Matterhorn. In thrills though, I think Matterhorn trumps Everest. I'm more of a die-hard coaster fan, for me the bigger, faster, and more intense....the better, which is why, although I do enjoy Everest, I wasn't all that impressed with it. I was expecting something way more intense. The reason I say BTMR was more thrilling than Everest is because on BTMR, there are some legit moments where my stomach goes into my mouth, not that many on Everest (except for the backwards portion and MAYBE the first big fall). I compare the two because both are fairly tame, take place outside on, in and around a mountain, and both have beautiful scenery/theming. To me EE and BTMR are like cousins, with BTMR being the bigger of the two. I hope this explains things to those that were offended, and I haven't been on BTMR in several years, so maybe if I get up to MK again and am able to ride it, my opinion will change. Who knows, we'll see.

Considering Everest is basically the Matterhorn brought to WDW 45 years later, it's a snoozefest. Matterhorn has classic Space Mountain-style thrills around one of Disney's first mountains and deserves crazy pops for the fact that it's the world's first steel coaster and is still giving great rides today. Not sure why anyone would think Everest is better. Would it be the broken yeti, the bird on a stick, the complete lack of airtime, or that awkward track switch?

A poster on WDWMagic claims the yeti is covered by a scrim.

If true hopefully they're getting one of the plans in motion. Of course he was covered up before with no resolution, so we'll see.

The bird has been long gone, the track switch has nothing awkward about it, the broken Yeti is still streets ahead of DL's Yeti who stands equally as idol with the intimidation factor of a basket of kittens, and "air-time?" On Matterhorn? I have never felt one, granted last time I visited DL, I waited in line three separate times between 30 and 45 minutes apiece only to be turned away due to "ride complications." Broken Yeti>Broken Ride.
