I don't trust Disney to make a better ride. When Universal had Marvel, we got Amazing Adventures. Disney gave us Web Slingers. When Universal got the rights to Harry Potter, we got Wizarding World. Disney was gonna give us a Toy-Story-Mania-esque attraction if they got the rights.

I'm not too big on The Simpsons Ride but it's likely better than anything Disney will come up with.

I recently watched OG55 do a live stream of a round up of theme park news, and one suggestion he had if Disney were to do a Simpsons ride of their own is to brush off the old Great Muppet Movie ride concept and have the Simpsons parody famous movie scenes.

I think Disney has options to look at the vitality on how to translate The Simpsons into a ride that best represents the IP, without having to immediately go to the same level as per what Universal has done.

Mind thinks on a ride that explores unused concepts such as the Nuclear Power Plant (as per what was originally speculated/rumored for us), or even something that'd represent things more close to Treehouse of Horror could be viable. Truthfully they could also look at what concepts were considered for the Dubai park, and go from there.

They got options--so long as they're willing to spend the time to figure things out.
___
Getting back to the matter of Simpsons at UDX, I'm more interested to see how they juggle things around for Hollywood compared to Orlando. Doesn't help our case compared to Orlando's that the infrastructure of our ride is of a few things:

1.) It's main ride is on the side of the hill, and is flanked by infrastructure for the Studio Tour & Bathrooms, and is also flanked by the return dive for Hollywood Drift
2.) Has kitchen facilities and infrastructure directly tied to that of Hogsmeade and the Studio Tour, and that it will have to be likely done in phases ahead of a closure date.

Atleast for Orlando, y'all don't really have as bad of an infrastructure crisis that comes down to the sake of Springfield. Nuisances, to be sure; but it is more feasible and workable to see how they won't have as much issues when work begins for the UOR replacement.

Even in regards to something like say, the lagoon; we've seen them work things out with a partial draining of portions, to allow workers ease of access. The only thing that makes me wonder is what happens to Kang & Kodos. Logistically I think there might be incentive to move it to be a "Expansion" for DreamWorks Land, and would be a potentially easy way to add a kinetic attraction amongsts the landscape of the area at large.

I wonder if the contract with FOX had a similar contract set up to Marvel where Simpsons might close in Orlando and open up for WDW but remain open at USH?

As for a Disney attraction for Simpsons, I don't see how it positively compares to the UOR one and question WDI working with the writers. I don't think they could make the same jokes, both at Disney's sake and in general.

All of the Disney+ specials are just hey look we put all our Disney characters in The Simpsons.

I fear a ride by Disney would be just as soulless.

The ride system for Universal’s may be tired, but the writing is top notch.

It seems the Simpson’s writers emptied the tank in 2007 with the movie and the ride.

Yeah, I’m of the not-too-controversial opinion that the Simpsons Ride was the last great episode of the show written.

I hope they completely level Springfield. FF Blvd, the old BTTF building, Duff Brewery, everything. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind getting rid of the Animal Actors theatre while they're at it, so long as we get another Pokemon theatre to replace it in a better, less cramped location.

USF has such a strange layout and structure, and it hurts the park when it comes to both long-term expansions and seasonal offerings. This is their big chance to fix a lot of foundational issues with the park.

I want them to have as much space as possible to do Pokemon right, and this is the opportunity. I don't want this IP to plug into the current layout like some other additions recently, I want to see something entirely like Jaws -> Diagon Alley. If any IP deserves that treatment, it's gonna be Pokemon.

My last ride (possibly ever) on this ride was rough, but we also just ate at Lombards before so that didn’t help. We always adored the queue and ride here immensely. It’s hilarious and fits the Simpsons perfectly.

I won’t cry when it goes though. May miss it, but it’s a new era at the resort.

My last ride on Simpsons was earlier this year and it was probably the most uncomfortable ride experience I've had outside of some truly terrible Stand-up coasters.

On the far left bottom row simulator car, front row seat, staring straight up into the sky and having to hold my neck up with one hand and using my other to hold onto the safety bar. It felt like I was doing sit-ups the entire ride. Meanwhile the ride car buzzes and jerks like it's giving death spasms; and all this so I can watch a dim, heavily warped projector video from 2008. :dizzy:

My friend and I agreed to not go on this one again, not for a long time at least haha. If this was a ride in MSHI, Disney would have reason to pull the land rights away.

Disgusting. That'd be like if Paramount used South Park to make a bunch of shorts about every Paramount IP (Transformers, M:I, Star Trek, Top Gun, SpongeBob, Beavis & Butthead, Jackass, etc) in South Park.

Alicia did say a little while back on the thread that Universal is treating Pokemon as a very large scale project and is moving a lot of things around to accommodate it. Thats a hint the entire land of Springfield as it is will be leveled.

One thing that is more ambiguous though is the future of AA. While I could see the plot be used as part of Pokemon either as some sort of stage show or C-D ticket ride, rumors don't have it going as part of the new land as of now. Maybe it could also become a dark ride phase 2 expansion for DreamWorks, which is something people on this forum have been pining for as well.

I’d like AA to become our Dreamworks theatre. I think that’d be a perfect complementary attraction to Dreamworks Land, and can be a new Shrek film which would actually draw crowds.

I presume all of Springfield is leveled and space behind it is used.

The theme park industry seem to be moving away from theater based attractions, so I don't think something like the DWT would come to USF.

IMO, AA could be used for a Shrek dark ride that could be something like SLOP or Midway Mania. Shrek being at the front of the DW land is not a coincidence if you look at it that way.

Yeah, I could never see Disney making a joke like "Don't you know all rides must end near the gift shop?"

Given the long timeline on WDW builds, will make this the perfect target for Zaddy Josh (or whomever gets the gig) to cut. Being as NBAX is no longer there ...

If they lean into the humor they allow skippers to do on Jungle Cruise it could 100% work. Disney of late seems far to fragile to allow this though.

In their defense, the DCA "Storytime with Deadpool" show had jabs like that. Stuff like joking about how Story Time with Deadpool was supposed to be a limited-time summer show, “but it made a lot of money so Disney+ told us to keep it around through Christmas.”

I did forget about that. Wasn't there a joke made that stirred controversy of some kind? I can't remember lol

Considering the acreage of Animation Courtyard, I much rather a fresher and more relevant IP takes it over.

Some WDWMagic posters and Disney YouTubers are hoping AC gets saved for Marvel if Disney somehow got the rights back. Long shot scenario as all of us here know.
