Yes, I think that is very cool. I remember a time when people reffered to people reffered to children who were good for FotH as "wand choosing age" lol.... I'm 13 and I was very happy to see that adults are getting picked as well, it improves my chances, and I'm glad that EVERYONE has the chance to experience a wand choosing young or old. Even if I don't get picked, I'll be happy to get my wand.

They probably saw all the hoopla on Mugglenet about Ellen only choosing unenthusiastic five to seven year olds to appear on her Harry Potter show and figured they better pick people from every age group.

I remember that! I was a bit disappointed, but not because they were young, I would never discredit a child being a fan due to age, however, these two seemed to think that because they were wearing HP shirts (only one was wearing a HP shirt). They didn't know anything about the books. They called Coconut Candy in a candy shop love potion, and I know why they called it love potion: it was pink. I'm glad they got to go, but I thought a truer fan could have been chosen. I'm happy though...

HAHA, if that ain't the God's honest truth! Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy during the Halloween celebration at Disneyland has about 20 different signs along the queue as well as a notice on the park map about how it is scarier and darker than the regular Space Mountain and not recommended for anyone under the age of 13. As I'm walking out the exit, I hear one of them "normal theme park visitors" b*tching out an attendant about how inappropriate the ride was and how much it scared her 8 year old. I wanted to tell her 8 is less than 13 lady. The HP people may be strange, but at least I can handle their strangeness.

Anywhere from 2 weeks to a month before the show was filmed, Ellen's website sent out a call for parents who knew their kids were fans of Harry Potter. I wouldn't be surprised if many submitted their children just for a few minutes of fame.

I don't doubt that.
And I'd never discredit a fan either, because I began reading them at age 7. Although, I do feel that books 4-7 have deeper elements that may not be easy for someone under 9 to grasp. They could have picked more enthusiastic kids...and I stand by my opinion that at least one teenager should have been picked. The park (from a normal viewer's perspective) was being marketed as a kid's park. It really isn't...there's fun things to do for younger kids, but I felt overall it was an older environment.
Anyways, that was a while ago anyways. The park is way better than how they portrayed it.

I so wish that more than one person was chosen for the wand experience. When they originally talked about it, it sounded like everyone would have a chance to be "chosen" by a wand. When the truth came out, a lot of people online were upset. It probably would be WAAAAY too time consuming, but it is a bummer.

That's interesting about the costumes. Disney is frigging BONKERS about anyone coming in outfits that look even remotely costume-y.

I wish more than one could be picked, but it just isn't realistic.
If anyone is interested, Mugglecast's new episode is out and a good part of it is on the Grand Opening and the park in general.

Ok, I am outta here. I will not be returning to OU as the HP construction show is over. The park is open and is what it is. Have fun all. It has been a great deal of fun up until the opening and now it has become a travel website which ain't my thing. No harm done, just not me. So, thanks for the experience over the past year. I really mean it. But now I must leave and move onto other places.

A very few of you have my contact info and have been invited to stay in touch. Please do.

Interesting, Teebin. Very interesting. Now my main question is, have they or are they going to do anything about being able to walk under the iron beams and such? It seems very strange and random that anybody can just waltz right in there.

Harry Potter fans can be VERY vicious, and wierd. There were two groupies who showed up at some sort of speech thing that Dan was at, and they showed up wearing nothing but Harry Potter towels. I'm a huge fan, but I wouldn't do some of the things my fellow fans would do. I would never consider dressing in robes this summer. Now, if I have the money and I go this Fall, then I may very well buy robes and dress up (but I don't think I'll spend $100 on robes). I'm definitely going to buy my wand and hold it out the whole time I'm there. Might put it in my pocket or back in the box just cause... And I sure hope that there is some way to tell cast members from fans in costume lol...

I heard Dan talk about this! He said they told him "nothing gets between me and Harry Potter." He said it weirded him out. Those robes looked heavy and I feel for the employees that have to wear them in this heat.

I don't think wearing robes in summer is weird (just hot). The towel thing, though? Innapropriate, imo. That's just plain stupid and weird, and will certainly make people around you uncomfortable.

Beats me how they even got in the park dressed like that, too.

They didn't. This wasn't at the park, it was an example of how weird Potter fans can be. They went to a speech or press conference or something, because Daniel Radcliffe was there, and they came only dressed in Harry Potter towels...

AWWWWWW, I think I'll miss you most of all Tin Man. Thanks for all the great insider info that helped tide me over till the thing actually opened. I think I could see Teebin rising up into the sky holding an Umbrella ala Mary Poppins.
