They recently added larger seats for bigger riders in FL but I have a buddy who weighs around 270-290 and he is barley able to ride. If he is too big there is no harm in working out, heck that's what I am doing right now and i've dropped 40lbs so far.

There's no actual weight restriction, but rather a matter of how far the safety restraint comes down. FJ team members were very strict about it when the ride first opened, but over the years they've become more relaxed about it. Some of the "enchanted benches" feature wider seating to accommodate larger guests. There're also test seats just outside the attraction entrance for those who want to try, and I believe there's a small light above each seat that will shine green once the safety restraint comes down to an appropriate level.

Awesome! Thanks guys! Now it's just going to be awkward testing out those seats for the first time to wait for a colored light.. Hope it's green aha also does anybody know if we are getting real owls like in Osaka?

I doubt we'll get real owls... if anything, they'll add an owl to Animal Actors (if they don't already have one) and say its 'THE' owl from Harry Potter.. If Animal Actors does have an owl, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought it out for appearances within WWOHP every so often through-out the day.

I'm more curious to see if we get the Hogwarts Express cabin photo-op that Japan has. Having ridden the glorified Potterail in Orlando, I'm interested to see how different the photo-op cabin would be compared to the ride-vehicle one. Although I'm sure they'd look more or less the same due to authenticity requirements.

^ "Glorified Potterail"???? O_o

One is a full immersive ride with full scale "train" that gives you a pretty authentic Hogwarts Express experience, and the other is a half-room photo op...

I was thinking the same thing about the owls. Animal Actors would be a perfect place for it. Just have it at special times so that it doesn't interfere with the original show.

haha... yea to Potter fans everywhere its a "real experience" (or close to it)... but to the non-potter fans, it is an overly themed monorail pulled by a cable forwards/backwards with videoscreens for windows on one side. The only upside to its existence for a lot of people in FL is not the Potter experience, but the fact that we now don't have to walk all the way out of the park to get to IOA or vice-versa.  Sheer laziness at its finest haha

The journey to Hogsmeade from London is definitely much better than the journey to London from Hogsmeade. Which reminds me, I wonder if they ever got all the in-cabin effects working. I'll have to ask one of my friends that works HE...

.......yeah, well, if you're gonna be that negative, you can basically describe almost all of Universal Studios as "that one park where you pay a lot to get in, and then sit in front of screens the whole day while your seat moves"

I mean, really..... -_-

In some respects, it is. I mean, it's no secret that Universal has been criticized for that very reason.

Spiral staircase laying on the ground...for now.  And only lonely spot is tagged as they begin plotting out whatever is going to happen to the hill.

Wow! So much work is being done. I Remember when just over a year ago this was all a dirt lot and now they are already working on interior work! :)

I admit that when I'm frustrated at Universal, I use that mentality, but come on Jon, really? That's such a negative way to look at Universal. It's so much more than that, even if it sometimes seems that way....believing in that is counterproductive IMO. But okeedoky....

Great pics, JPLA! I'm curious what the yellow "caution" tape is blocking in that one pic...it looks like a marker stick of some sort?

Good find. If I'm not mistaken, this'll be installed in The Three Broomsticks.

Animal Actors does have an owl, and they do claim it's been used in the Harry Potter films (which I still believe to be hogwash). I made quite a long post about it many pages back, so I'll make a quick reiteration: They could use any live owls in Hogsmeade if they wanted to, and it could all work out to their benefit since Animal Actors is right across from the entrance to Hogsmeade. I'm not sure if Japan considers that one of their unique elements, but it'd be cool to see here.

As for the "glorified Potterail", it truly is an experience of its own kind. They took the simple idea of transporting guests between two theme parks and made a revolutionary experience out of it. If you truly see it in a bad light, that's your opinion, but don't abase those who enjoy the attraction and the intellectual property that it's based upon.

I never said it was a bad thing, but it is what it is.

I see it this way: if someone is going to be THAT negative about Harry Potter, USH as a whole, or any other aspect or intellectual property at USH, then either don't visit that specific attraction or the park. Simple as that. That applies to Disney as well. There's "opinions" and "not being a fan" of something, and then there's just bashing...

Even I wasn't ever that negative towards Simpsons, and I'm not a fan of the ride.

As for having an Owl experience in our Hogsmeade, that'd be brilliant. They already have caretakers and a "home" in Animal Actors, so having a secondary location inside the Owl Post would be wonderful. I've always wanted to pet an owl on the head!

It's a valid criticism. People I spoke with that rode Hogwarts Express that weren't Potter fans considered it a nice perk, but it wasn't anything too spectacular.

Different tastes is all.

That's absolutely valid, Jon. I respect a difference of opinion or not totally being a fan of something. But bashing and/or laughing at or having nothing but criticism against everything having to do with a certain fandom or just constantly being negative and/or obnoxious in general isn't pretty.
