Germany has essentially had less than 500 cases a day since the end of May. The US, in contrast, is averaging about 60,000 cases a day for about the last three weeks, and in May/June was at about 25,000 cases a day. For the most part, only the US (and parts of South America) have skyrocketing rates.
Europe as a whole has it under control, so I don't see why they look bad, except by turning the mirror at our own situation that is largely our own falut. (All sources: NYT)
