Wow, the rate of construction is still mind-boggling. Seems like everyday there are major changes on how far along they have gotten.

So the projection screen is that big or does the screen follow EVAC up and down the shaft?

I believe it's just that big. Probably cheaper than a moving screen, anyway.

It's going to be a huge hit and not going to break the bank. As for the rush its all about getting the park ready for the mega rush this new Potter project is going to cause. Advertising a new blockbuster mega attraction and then followed by the mother of all projects will give locals the one two punch on either renewing or buying an annual pass. Then Universal will go for the knock out with tourists with heavy advertising from all the new additions with a major focus on Potter that will draw people to the park like nothing ever seen before at Universal.

Think about advertising in late 2014 through 2015 and what it will focus on

Transformers
Despicable Me
Parades and Nightly Fireworks
Springfield
Potter with a park to park connector
New dining and up charge VIP options
New cheaper resort option

And that's only 2-4 years since their last visit...

You have made a good point. One reason for us (My girlfriend and I) not renewing our annual passes at Disney is because the draw isn't there for us anymore, especially since Main Street Bakery is leaving. That was our traditional thing at Magic Kingdom. Not only that, we're usually done with all the Disney Parks in one day, 4 parks. (Mind you no meet and greets and little children) so there just isn't as big of an interest like there is for UNiversal for the next 5 or so years. We Don't even like Harry Potter but we admit we both are fans of the re-creation as it gives one a chance to experience what we missed.

Not only that but as you mentioned Universal is doing a One , two , three , four, five, punch in our eyes. Back to back to back projects?
I may be a loner on these forums but the new food options are the number two thing I'm excited about as I always enjoy a good dining experience. Plus UNI has a great meal deal offer you cant beat.

Were switching to Universals annual passes. (Trying to get them before the raise the prices of their tickets like Sea World). It appeals to our desires of being a great day getaway! Plus I enjoy all the events Universal offers. It's just best for us now (Price too) . However I will keep my Typhoon lagoo Annual pass haha.

The Winter Olympics will be a great spot to advertise this new stuff! As the whole AP thing goes, I got Disney pass this year (I got Universal last year and this year) and will probably still keep both. The good side(?) is they both expire in November next year.

The worst is when your all your GF's friends start having them and gets the ball rolling in her mind also  I will say this though, having the little ones really has made me appreciate the Disney parks all over again and is a great feeling watching them enjoy things there for their very first time

She's already mentioned it haha. But It's funny you say that. I Went to Disney for the first time last year or (2010) and thats what made me get the season pass. I'll always remember my first time. It's a great park for children, although I don't know how many children still watch Disney Movies anymore. But Universal is on the ball!

Disney definitely has a one (or a few) up over Universal in the general appeal for the little kiddies, and hopefully Universal will tackle more of that demographic soon. But apart from that, I think Universal definitely is a much better option and value. All my family and friends who have come over to visit, and with whom I've visited both resorts, they all preferred Universal. Everyone. Disney has the legacy and the bigger name... but in reality, the Disney parks are crumbling (literally, in some attractions) next to Universal who is getting stronger and stronger, and providing a lot more bang for the buck. For the quality, value, and the amazing upgrades and new attractions, like Transformers  , I think that Universal is the best theme-park destination in central Florida right now, and for many years to come.

I still prefer Disney over Universal, but Universal isn't far behind.

It's funny, my kids have always hated the Disney parks. We went two times out of the eight times we've been on vacation in Orlando, and they actually asked not to go to Disney and to spend more time in Islands of Adventure. Specifically Camp Jurassic, Pteranadon Flyers and the Ball Factory.
