It's finally starting to look like a demo.

I thought the walls were more substantial than that. I wonder what they were made of.

They appear to be made of:

Structural steel framing.
CMU exterior with parging applied.
Interior steel framing with sheetrock (probably abuse resistant) applied.

Bob Bob Bob... what is CMU and what is parging? Those sound like specific construction terms with which I am not familiar...

CMU is block, which I am surprised the building isn't made of...
I looked it up Parging=Stucco

- - - Updated - - -

All that Structual steel explains why they didn't just knock it down, bust out the cuttig torches.

Yeah... I was looking at the twit pics and the demo lines where pretty straight for a block wall, thought it was a doble studded wall. I assume its the expansion joints at the I beams.

^ That picture of the donkey building is concrete block. I see no sign of concrete block on the main building exposing the insulation. It looks like an old form of Densglass or thin concrete sheets... whatever they used in 1989. I agree with the stucco.

Exterior sheeting... basicly drywall called brown board, Densglass is yellow, and now purple. I doub't think they would use cement boards (durarock) for that.

Right, my point is that it isn't cinder'block'. See picture below... solid and no holes like cinderblock. Almost looks like hung concrete panels. Not sure what materials/techniques were available 25 years ago.

Was at the park one last time tonight. Snapped some pictures around 7, but wont be able to post until I get home tomorrow. I got some over the wall shots by standing on the steps of the facades facing the demo. Most of the work was done on the surely and donkey side, with some on the corner by Mel's. I also rode Rockit, but at night. However, I didn't notice any of the roof gone.

The permit called it a "precast building."

From Wikipedia "Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted into place"

The picture attached to the article looks just like SS44.

Thanks for having a great memory on the permits Reel! Phew... I was feeling all out of eye and touch. As Reel said, look familiar anyone?:

^ My bad, you guys are right. I should have paid more attention to all the clean deep vertical joints. It is definitely a tilt-wall system.

I also forgot that the Shrek MnG was not a part of the SS44 structures but built between it and Monster's Cafe.
