I wish they had applied that aging technique used on the bottom half to the rest of the building--the bottom looks significantly better than the top. And I'm sticking with my guns and saying a brown(er) color would have done wonders for the building, and at least helped it fit in with the rest of Production Central. But oh well, it is what it is at this point. At least it's a fun ride on the inside, even if its at the cost of Universal's well-constructed sightlines and New York theming.

I think if they had given it a simple stone facade like entrance has, it would have looked significantly better.

Aw crap, I meant ask them if they knew who the 4th meet & greet Transformer is going to be. Anyone who's there or is going soon should ask!

It's fine. It distinguishes itself from the rest of the building, like an entrance should.

Yes, it distinguishes itself by looking passable for a world class theme park.

I think it is going to be Starscrem as he seems to be one of the more popular transformer and because it will even the meet sand greet up with two autobots and then two decepticons.

Hi everyone, newly registered here but have been lurking for a while. I appreciate everyone's insight and updates. Now time for all of you to get real with me...

I'm taking my girlfriend to Disney and Universal from May 29th to June 3rd, so the last few days of May into the first few days in June. As you can tell by my username, my girlfriend really likes robots, and really, really wants to be able to go on the Transformers ride. With that in mind, what are the odds that it will be open in time for say at least the first few days of June?

Depending on your answers, our trip may very well be pushed back. If any of you indeed recommend pushing it back a bit, any suggestions on best time to go in the summer? I've conceded that if we go in summer proper, we'll have to deal with more heat/crowds/dollars (in terms of hotel stay, etc.). Thanks everyone.

Its possible it might be running by then but its a gamble. As far as when in the summer to go I would say late summer right when the kids go back to school in August  Late May early June may just sneak you in before most schools let out and it gets crazy

Welcome.
If it were me, I would go in September when you know it will be open also the schools are back in session, It's still warm enough for water rides, and it will be less crowded.

:welcome: Gf Likes Robots!

I hope it'll be open by the end of May, but we never know if they can have further delays. Crossing fingers that they won't!
If anything, leave the Uni part of your trip for the last days of your trip, if you still decide to keep it within those dates. According to the on-site hotels' seasonal rates, beginning June 7th, the higher summer rates kick in, so wanna keep that in mind (in terms of crowds, etc.).

I know you asked for suggestions of when it'd be best to push it back still within the summer, and honestly, I'd say also say August, like Hockeyman suggested, because kids are going back to school and there should be less crowds. But, if you're ok with pushing it back to after the summer, I really recommend September, like OF mentioned. Especially the end of September when you can also attend HHN during your trip  Highly recommended!

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, where are you coming from?

You want real? I'll give it to you un sugar coated truth! The ride will be open. Universal wouldn't do that and there won't be any delays unless it's weather related *Hurricane/Tornado/Severe Thunderstorms with win damage* which in Orlando, in the summer are all very real and frequent possibilities. Problem is we know there will be thunderstorms everyday, just not which neighborhood in Orlando exactly and what time and for how long. Could be really short thunderstorms but really severe at 12 PM and then hot enough for another storm at 4 5 or 6 pm or it could be 97 degrees all day with a heat index of 104-109 and thunderstorms come in the evening after 7 or 8 pm. NEVER Know. So as far as weather, you kind of have to wing it in the summer. If you are not from Orlando, it can be unbearable. Pushing your trip back to September because of weather is a bad idea as Hurricans are more active and it still rains just about daily. Now pushing your trip back for other reasons (Crowd, Ride opening ) then yes you may want to do so so you can fully enjoy it. I always advise all guests to never push their trip back due to weather. From about April/May (Depending on the year) to October/November the weather becomes tropical by all characteristics but in a sense where unpredictability plays a major role. Yes it will be hot and yes it will rain and storm almost daily, but the good part about it is you can wing it and work around the weather. What you can't predict is the crowds. Sure they have crowd calenders but I'll tell you Universal and Disney seems to be really crowded even more so than they say in the summer. Seldom will you catch a slow day or moderate day in the summer.

Avoid May, June, July by all means. My recommended month would be august! Early to mid august. Mid august to be exact!. It's still hot, it still rains, but everything won't be under *refurbishment*, new rides will definitely be open, and the local children who flood the parks in the middle of the summer . This goes for water parks (as you didn't specify on which property will you be doing what). Also Hotel rates are a bit cheaper as the crowds begin to die down from about August - October. October, November, December, January all have spurts of HEAVY crowds. Not all month long but just during holidays and off days here for the locals!

Agreed 100%! I went during the week of Christmas! The shortest wait of the day was 160 minutes for Forbidden Journey! It was beyond words the most perfect day ever. The crowds definitely were not stressful at all.
