I wasn't questioning that it was there. I was questioning the idea of a "medical condition" to smoke/fog effects. Having thought it through, it sounds more like it could be a psychological condition with reactions of shortness of breath and coughing based on nothing but what they are seeing.

Asthma can be very sensitive to smoke effects depending on what they use.... Sometimes it will make me need a puff of my inhaler if I inhale a lot and I only have very mild asthma.

"Medical Sensitivity to Fog Effects"??? What in hell could that be? "I am allergic to Nitrogen" ("which I am breathing right now...").

As Ash said the fog can trigger and asthma attack. That warning is on a number of rides around the park.

Could be but I'm pretty positive there is a code that pops up when the ride is closed due to technical difficulties.

The wait time displayed is set by either the attraction greeter or the attraction control booth (depending on the attraction) on a system that is independent of everything else, including other wait time signs. When the ride closes they turn it off, and it displays nothing.

Interestingly the large wait time signs spread around the park are all controlled from an office back behind health services. And attractions have to call to get their wait times updated on the boards around the park.

The point I think Teebin is trying to make, is that most theme parks including Universal don't use "fog" machines that could cause potential asthma attacks or any other reaction. They use LN2 (liquid nitrogen). By doing so, there's no real smell or risk of reaction with the "fog." It would be purely psychological if individuals had trouble with LN2.

The wait time for Transformers is updated on the wait time sign itself.

I asked today about the "OL" and they laughed and said "Outta Luck". But they confirmed "Off Line"

And the damaged panel is still damaged:

I do not think they will actually repair that panel. It was mentioned earlier that the panel would have to be removed to repair correctly. That is correct. They could BONDO and fiberglass it and achieve an acceptable result but I just don't think they'll do it.

Not true, at least for ET for sure. I have a fog machine, & in the instruction manual, it says to avoid using it around anyone who has asthma. The fog itself has a very distinctive smell, so I know a fog machine when I smell one, & 1 spot in particilar is at the end of the ET ride just after ET says everyone's names, wheras all of the other smoke effects through out that ride are accomplished differently.

Of course, they do use other things for fog more than they use a standard fog machine, such as a pressurized water mist similar to
T3 3D, which is why during some of those effects if you wear glasses, your glasses fog up. A fog machine however doesnt have that effect.

There is a couple other spots Ive smelled fog on rides, just cant think of where else off the top pf my head.

The wait time for Transformers is updated on the wait time sign itself.

There are three issues. The first one is there are some fog machines on property. The second is that the LN2 effects can cause issues as well. And the fourth one is if you have a medical sensitivity to fog, checked the sign and saw nothing, then got on the ride and then saw fog you'd probably freak out.

I assumed for Transformers it would be updated right on the sign, most of the rides do it that way (only a few update right from the booth). My point was there is no system for the sign to be offline from. The wait time at the attraction entrance is tied into absolutely nothing.

Not that the sign is Off Line, but rather the ride is Off Line. Someone would need to set it.

That would make this the first ride at UO to have a sign that does this. All the others just go blank.

Note that it says _OL and not OL_

As 70 min upside down would be OL_ (_70) and not _OL (70_)

I didn't notice that one, but my point still stands that this makes it the only one on property to do that.

That may be, IDK  I haven't seen every ride broken down  but I haven't seen OL before.

Maybe another ride has it, but they turn it off instead because they get sick of everyone asking what the heck OL means  JK

It does make more seance for the CM managing the lines to keep track of how long the lines are. Let's keep the ride operators eyes on the rides :yikes:

Could the OL be a small theming decision?

The fog machines Universal uses at HHN do have a distinct smell. I don't have asthma or any other respiratory issues and I'm often coughing by the end of the night.

I nearly had an attack the last time I went to HHN, had to sit out one house to catch my breath. I'm never bothered on rides but it's different when it's everywhere during HHN.

I guess I worded my post wrong. I was primarily speaking in terms of just Transformers and large fog effects. LN2 is strictly Nitrogen, so very rarely do individuals have issues with it.

Also, I was just stating that's how Transformers wait time is adjusted. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong or anything.

HHN is a completely different story. These are temporary and fog machines are definitely used. In fact, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they use Froggy's Fog for their houses which is known to be a little less allergenic but have a very distinct smell.

Hate to combo break here, but I felt like saying that I had the golden opportunity to go to Universal Hollywood and ride the Transformers ride. Spectacular ride all around, but I did a little research and there were some amusing inconsistencies there that I suppose are lost on people who don't know or don't care. ;3
