Was about to ask the same thing. Last I heard is that they're waiting till the last moment to put up Optimus, kinda like the cherry on top for the ride before the grand opening.

What it leads me to believe is that this isn't a true "AA", but statue with a motorized turning head on top.

My question is... when the hell is that Optimus going up? I've been skeptical about that thing the last two weeks as there seems to be no sign of prepwork for the mechanics of an AA whatsoever. Is it 100% confirmed that it's an AA and not just a sculpture/statue/static artwork?

yeah, what most people think of as AA's aren't. Only movement on queue is an AA. The rest are merely simple motorized window displays.

I have to wonder if employee previews start Sunday with guest starting either later Sunday or Monday? Regardless the door could open at anytime starting Sunday.

Right you are, Harry.

Seriously, it must be just a motorized head, right?

I'd say that's a very logical conclusion. There's just no signs that point otherwise, and it's getting to the point where no more will show. I think anyone expecting an advanced Potato-head level AA were foolish in the first place. The question really is how simple will he be.

Wasn't the original statement about this was that it would have movement, I don't remember anyone in the know saying it would be an AA.

I always just assumed it would be just pretty basic and nothing like an AA on a ride

Well people have been tossing around AA like crazy in this thread and in the DA thread, trying to make a connection between Optimus and the "dragon." As if the form is a test run for the latter, which just seems to be all kinds of incorrect.

Well, outdoor AAs never have all that much movement to begin with. I was expecting something similar to the movement Buckbeak has in IoA.

I actually don't care if there ends up being an AA on the rooftop or not. I don't need one on top of Gringotts either. Save the AA's for the ride experience, although for Transformers we already know there are none.

So, anyone think we'll start to hear more about possible softs after the TM Battle Readiness Event this afternoon?

But no one has said the Dragon (if it even exists) will be an AA, all we know is if it is true, it will breath fire. So they say. I don't see it ever being real fire due to the fact that Uni is Green. So I think people just mean large scale outdoor things with movements.

So apparently Team Member previews weren't even announced today during the TM event, and will be announced next Wednesday. I think chances of softs this weekend are slim to none.

Makes you think there is a possibility of softs before employee previews. I know rare but there is something I can't post that makes me it's possible. Not probable but definitely possible.

Actually NO ONE build "AAs" anymore. AA technically means "Audio Animatronic". They were the first animatronic figures made. They used a tape based audio signal to trigger the movements. All the complex figures made these days are simply "Animatronics" that use computer programing to trigger the motions. But basically what we are arguing is whether Optimus Prime will be an Animatronic or a Mechanical Figure. I am hoping that Optimus Prime is an Animatronic figure. Albeit a relatively simple one, but more complex than a simple mechanical figure.

Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid uses a combination of the 2 with an overabundance of simple mechanical figures.

That's a big problem I have with the ride, because while the main animatronics are very impressive, the abundance of simple mechanical figures are jarring.
