Where would this even go?
Plus Epic has the newness factor.
It has been decades since a new theme park opened in the Orlando market not including Legoland.
Unfortunately it was gonna feel dated regardless because the park still has a lot of the same bones from 1990.
I think framing it as a competition between USF and DHS isn't quite the way to approach it.
Why not? They opened the same year and DHS has radically reinvented itself while USF has just kind of made piecemeal changes outside of Diagon.
When Monsters opens at DHS, comparing the parks is actually crazy. DHS has way more entertainment and shows and on a larger scale (though BatB needs to swap out) and it has top tier attractions for the entire resort (and dare I say world). I expect big things from the door coaster also.
Yeah, I mostly agree with you, except for Diagon Alley land being much better/stronger than the Amity land, Jaws was a good ride but the land overall was weak and losing appeal. Jaws had become a walk on basically. Diagon is the best land in any theme park, and Gringotts, Hogwarts Express, and the two shows are big plusses for the park.
Absolutely Diagon was an improvement over Amity land. Sorry, jaws fans… the bottom line is that the Hogwarts express, moreso than Diagon, was
the gamechanger for UOR and nothing has come close since hogsmeade. Hogsmeade saved the resort. The hogwarts express expanded it. I’m not sure we have volcano bay or even epic today without it. Or at the very least not to the scale they are. The increase of park hopping tickets was like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
Probably true, but you never know! Nobody thought Supercharged would be going away after being open less than a decade. I could see some scenario where something else Minions/Despicable Me could go into the Minion Mayhem plot.
Yeah, I think this would be the only scenario. Minion Mayhem goes, replaced by another Minion attraction (hopefully a dark ride)
Minions isn’t going anywhere for a VERY long time. They, quite literally, built a massive land in Beijing with that same (inferior 2D) ride as the principal. And just did it in Singapore as well.
It should be 3D. Other than that, get used to it. Villian Con should have been a DM dark ride on the scale of SLoP. Maybe even a shooter to make way for the inevitable closure of MiB. Would have loved competing with each other being able to shoot purple minions to turn them yellow and vice versa. Gets purple minions merch and food in park better too. But… we didn’t. Which, again, goes back to my principle point of Disney and DHS reinventing itself while USF just hodgepodges nonsense halfhearted replacements a large chunk of the time.
Also- I’ll take no Fallon slander. That was a good move for the entire area w/ 30 rock and the bathrooms.
