Did the SW contract end? I thought it went through this year?

Last I heard, it ended last year.

I've personally seen pyro tests, but only off of F&F. And i've seen tests on multiple different occasions.

Did they shoot off pyro at the media grand opening for F&F tonight though? Because that could've been what it was for.

Well, technically they can't shoot off certain fireworks. The ones they shoot off currently are fairly low level and not too loud. They could never do something like Happily Ever After off of Hogwarts due to how loud they would be.

They did shoot off pyro for the F&F media event.

I probably still wouldn't put them above Sea World.

The drawback for SeaWorld holiday offerings is most of it only goes on during the weekends while Universal has it every day of the week minus the concerts.

Since I only go to theme parks during the weekdays it means the SeaWorld holiday events are very small.

I honestly don't remember. I thought the contract was "Through the 2018 Holiday Season", but I don't remember.

I believe it was a 2 year contract covering the holidays for 2016 and 2017. I don't think SeaWorld has the rights any longer.

That is good news. I would assume we will see those IPs at least in the parade.

A holiday version of the lagoon show is a great idea. It could simply be tacked on the end like Illuminations does.

I expect a new float or balloon to be added every year for the parade for the next few years. That way they can advertise "featuring all-new" whatever...

But, don't they usually not have the nighttime show during times of year when they have nighttime parades, like Christmas and Mardi Gras? At least, when Cinematic Spectacular was going on anyway I thought.

yes...and I had previously read that when Universal distributed their holiday survey two years ago, that they asked a large number of questions pertaining to a holiday lagoon show....And since that survey they've already instituted a number of those points, namely the new Holiday Parade, Diagon Alley entertainment, Hogwart's Christmas light/pyro/projection show, HP decorations.

I mostly go during December, and through a haze of Blue Moon, Duff porter and mojitos, remember seeing the old show multiple times.

I thought that as well, but when I said so on NPR Seaworld corporate complained to correct me, saying the Rudolph contract is still ongoing. Apparently Universal bought the rights to the TV special, but the characters are still licenensed through a separate company.

This could be the case for many characters from the DreamWorks Classics catalog.

I don't know how accurate that is because all rights for Rankin Bass pre-1973 were owned by Broadway Video ( Lorne Michaels company known for The Tonight Show, SNL, etc which is already affliated with NBCUniversal prior to being sold to DreamWorks in 2012). The rest of the library is owned by WB now but I don't think they own the rights to Rudolph.

Edit: I said corrected...the character Rudolph is owned by Character Arts LLC but all the rights for the media works for using are owned by Universal now. However the companies owner is not known except the guy who runs the company used to work for Broadway Video. This may mean Lorne Michaels owns the right.

Reason I'm glad they are adding so many fountains...I do remember previous shows that shot rather large shells from behind Simpsons, but that was a while ago, and the show is facing the other way now haha

World of Color LEDs I believe are a ring around the nozzle and this is in front of the nozzle.

These LEDs look bigger than WoCs. WoC does use a ring that goes around the fountain. I don't know completely for sure, but my belief is that without the hole in the middle, the heat sink is more complete and therefore you can get a bigger/brighter LED unit.

It also looks like there's a lot more on the fountain grid now than from the last photos.

I really hope they have moving fountain heads that can be programmed and not just stationary nozzles.

Bioreconstruct specifically mentioned moving fountainheads in one of his installation tweets.
