I find it interesting that so much of the food is kind of being outsourced to the hub. Universal and even Disney as of late have been really capitalizing on the themed foods in their signature lands (Butterbeer, Green Eggs and Ham, Duff), I wonder if there will be any story creativity for the foods in the hub.

It also sort of highlights the lack of “food items” in many of the IP chosen. I have no earthly clue how they’ll try to handle any of the consumables in the Mario franchise, though I can see some sort of pimped-out banana for DK Country. Finding the story reason for a Jacob/Queenie Bakery thing would be strange in Paris. I don’t think anyone has ever really wanted to eat anything in Berk, though if they treat it like Medieval Times it might be fun. And then of course you could... suck down some blood... in Monsters... or wicked potions or. Something.

I dunno. I imagine that, due to the time-space theme, the portals might have some amount of “leakage”, allowing the Fantastic Beasts bakery to appear anachronistically and as if ripped from New York on-it’s-own just in front of the entry to Paris? Or perhaps an Animal Crossing fruit stand, etc? A food cart ripped from Ancient Egypt, pulled from the Mummy-verse? Or even, like, something Shrek or Trolls related outside of Berk. Ooh, King Julian’s Tiki Bar.

I think it's similar to how the current parks have a lot the dining in Citywalk rather than in the parks themselves. It looks like each land has at least 1 main quick service, which is pretty similar to what most recent IP lands have (Toy Story, Pandora, London). That still provides opportunity for each land to have unique food items, while showing that they seem to be trying to keep IPs out of table service dining. It honestly seems like a pretty good balance to me.

On it ;). I'll try to match how some buildings look in the concept art which could take a while, but most will likely just be rough placeholders based on the foundations.

Funny enough I started reading the how to train your dragon series with my daughter because of epic universe and there is a menu that immediately made me think they could use it in the park. Haha. I also bet JK releases some kind of menu on pottermore if they do another country. Plus the food the french students talk about. It also be smart if they used a "floo" system to visit different places in the wizarding world. If they decide not to do fantastic beasts then they could reasonably do the burrow as a restaurant and visit ministry of magic as an attraction However, i think having a chance to put french food in the park would still be smart.

I believe it’s rumored that the dark ride for Fantastic Beasts is going to be utilizing the “floo” system with some new technology.

It is upsetting that httyd doesn't have a flying theatre attraction but to me the entire land makes up for it. Seems to be one of the biggest lands in the park with what will be like an e-ticket show if it's anything like the world tour but with a permanent setting.. I'm not a kid but I can easily see myself being totally immersed and enjoying all the rides in the land (unlike Seuss) as well as not even looking at a screen (which for a long time uni fan will be amazing). Pandora pretty much lockdown that style ride and this would feel almost as a copy/not a new ride, hopefully the coaster has a few show scenes that can pick up the slack for not having an e-ticket ride

Honestly if this show is like one of the best theme park shows out there then ya I’ll likely end up not caring about missing out on a flying ticket attraction. If there working with Dreamworks on it I expect the script to be much better and it could be a really strong collaboration. I hope it’s just a little longer than the typical 20-25 min shows that Universal usually does.

Super hyped to experience Berk though, and I’m all in for the Great Hall restaurant as an idea anyways (but not in place of a theatre ride) and if this is the sit down and the only sit down of the lands I suspect Universal going to go full Viking with the place and make it comforting but applicable to all age groups, could be a wonderful setting honestly. I’m here for it, but Berk seems like a half day at most experience now, if it had one more attraction between re-rides and dining I could probably make a day out of it if I tried haha. Dragons at Day, Monsters at nignt sounds fun though.

Could the restaurant by the nintendo store be a smash bro’s restaurant? The yellow circle on the floor looks like the smash bro’s logo (it has the lines from the logo shaded in) and since smash bro’s is a “best of” nintendo, it could thematically fit with the store

Also consulting dean deblois on the httyd show would be great, everything he’s done with httyd has been spectacular.

I KNOW i speculated this before, but i think i may have, with the FB permits, concrete evidence as to which attraction building will be the french ministry of magic. Take a look at the outdoor area i circled below. notice the grooves on the square in the center, with the lines going through it, making a cross like shape and a black dot in the center:

NOW, look at this image of the entrance to the ministry in FB2:
A39F1592-EAE2-4589-925C-26D26F6FDB78.jpeg
the EXACT same cross like groves are there (which separate the concrete from the dirt the trees grow from) and there’s a structure in the center (the black dot from the permit). The details are too similar to be a coincidence, in my opinion.

I'll take any Wizarding World Ministry attraction as long as it's good... but I really wish we were getting to see the London Ministry instead of the Paris one. The atrium with all the office windows looking down, the long corridor of fireplaces, the fountain... it's one of the more iconic Potter locations.

The Paris one is kind of... domes and file cabinets?

Yup. The Paris one just pales in comparison

I have to ask. If Fantastic Beasts does get changed to the regular Potter stuff, would the attractions remain the same? Like, would the interactive dark ride and indoor drop tower just get a retheme, or would they be replaced entirely?

At this point I would say yes. There’s likely not enough time to go back to the drawing board.

One of the lands in Beijing was rethemed last minute and EVERYTHING remained the same as far as ride systems, restaurant locations, etc, but the theme changed to Panda after they acquired DreamWorks. All the legwork was done so they worked it into what they had.

All that said, I personally haven’t heard FB was changing to MoM. It sounds like wishful thinking by people on the web. But, you never know.

Also in regards to the french ministry, the actual structure in the film is described as having at least four different levels/floors, and i remember once reading that there’s multiple elevator routes to reach specific departments. Seems pretty fitting for the tower ride on a storyline basis.

Also glad the grey filter from the Fantastic beasts films doesn’t exist in real life, because the actual level of color the sets/costume/concept art had vs the movie makes me want to BEG them to change those who decided on that god awful filter if they don’t change course

Hmm, that makes sense.

I do wonder though, what if they mixed both IP's? Like, they can have Newt's Fantastic Beast Hunting Adventure Deluxe exist but it would be rethemed to London, and the Ministry would be rethemed to the one seen in the Potter films. It's not as if the British Ministry doesn't exist at the time. That way, you have the iconic setting without having to remake everything in its entirety. The buildings, rides, and characters remain the same, but the architecture theming changes.

I know that the rumors are pokemon and/or a lagoon ride for future expansion area between nintendo and monsters, but are there any rumors for plans on the future expansion between fb and httyd? I'm guessing way too early and they're going to keep options for what is popular in later years?

Pretty much. There's a ton of speculation around that area (like Lord of the Rings), but nothing concrete.

It kind of make me giggle thinking of a single land in a park being considered as a half day area considering there are entire parks that have been considered half day parks. I just can't get over how massive Epic Universe is going to be.

Well, it does depend on what your definition of a full day is. If you're only here for the rides, you might end up being disappointed (not in the quality, but the quantity). For example, Hollywood Studios is a half day park, Six Flags Magic Mountain is a full day park.

But, if you're here for the full package, this absolutely is the park. There's so much to do here, you got 12 rides (if that dome in the hub is a flat ride like I think it is), three built in shows, a parade, fireworks, and a ton of interactive experiences and play areas. Not to mention that two of the rides (AKA Mario Kart and the Fantastic Beasts shoot-em-up) are interactive, leading to tons of re-ridability. You can just relax and take in the atmosphere if you want. There's stuff to do in the rain. There's stuff to do if you don't want to ride anything. It's perfect in a way that no park in Florida outside of Magic Kingdom is.
