Nicholas Cage could be great in Renfield, but it would be hard to top his vampire performance in Vampire's Kiss:

Nicholas Cage and 'Great' should not be seen in the same sentence.
With the exception of "it's great that Nicholas Cage isn't in this" ;)

Both Eggars nosferatu and Kusama's Dracula movies seem to be canceled. Damn shame.

Also we are in a Cage Renaissance right now don't be ignorant.

Neither was Universal classic monsters series....Miramax was going to produce with Blumhouse when they got the Kusama Dracula which was focused on Mina then dropped it.

You're right I forgot this was strictly Universal-produced monsters. I was just mourning the loss of two projects I was excited about and forgot where those projects were actually coming from.

The praise Invisible Man got & people cling to is undeserved. The so-called modern remake was nothing original or fresh. It was just a retooled plot of 1991's "Sleeping with the Enemy" but with an Invisi-suit thrown in. The movie was only "Invisible Man" by name alone, but did not resemble anything close to the original film or its iconic character "appearance". Kevin Bacon's "HallowMan" was a better modern remake of Invisible Man!

What bothers me the most is that HHN cracked the code for a cohesive Monster-verse and the Studio is completely blind to it.

Was it still a good movie by itself? And how did HHN crack the code?

Invisible Man? No. It was terrible even without the recycled plot from another movie. It wasn't smart, scary, or unpredictable.

Really? How did they crack the code? It's pretty obvious from the mazes themselves. 2018 was the reintroduction of the Monsters (2019 for Orlando), 2019's Frankenstein Meets Wolfman was like a side quest spinoff, 2021 continued 2018's finale with Bride of Frankenstein Lives, 2022 continues the interconnected story with Legends Collide (Dracula's revenge for the loss of his brides, Wolfman trying to break his curse, Mummy being the gatekeeper). The next set of Monsters on their line-up left to play with in their own maze are Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Creature From The Black Lagoon, Invisible Man & Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde if they really wanted to reference their own 1913 film adaptation.

But the point is, the studio has failed to bring the Monsters to life on screen or in a cohesive universe. They don't know how to balance horror & action-packed blockbuster. Horror Nights has provided a great loosely developed story to adapt, but unfortunately the Dark Universe is "dead". Now we're getting random remakes that might be good, but could be another nail in the coffin.
