Yeah, I've noticed all Universal ads seem to be pushing annual passes these days. I wonder if that means people aren't buying them...

The Universal has always heavily promoted and encouraged guests into buying an AP/Season Pass in their commercials. Now that the Buy a Day, Year Free pass is a thing of the past they have just switched ticket option they promote in their commercials.

You are right. I guess it's just that the Buy a Day, Get the Year for Free adds didn't feel the same as the Get Your Annual Pass On Line Now ads.

The first ads felt like Universal was offering you a deal, the second - not so much.

Universal V.I.P Tours are now on sale for dates NOW through 9/5/2016.

Prices range from $299 to $319 until 4/7/2016. From that point onwards the price for a V.I.P tour is $349 every day.

Oh a little note about 4/7/2016,  all annual passes are blocked out from the 7th through the 10th.

Look at the Costco pass and its blackout dates. Almost all if not all weekends are blacked out. Universal Studios Hollywood is offering this pass to help spread out crowds by only offering weekdays which during the offseason the park is quite empty. It's a smart move to help spread out the crowds throughout the year.

I've been meaning to reply to this post about the Costco passes, and was reminded when the USH Twitter account tweeted their hours last week:

universal_10-5hours.png

Yes, just last Friday--in fact Monday thru Friday last week--the park was only open from 10am to 5pm each day--a total of 7 operating hours each day. ONLY 7 HOURS. As GoldenSlumbers noted above, the park has generally light weekday crowds in the offseason so there's been no need for Universal to stay open longer.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter will change all of that and those Costco passes are made exactly to push people to visit during weekdays. I wonder what the offseason hours will be once Potter opens: 9-6? 9-7? And I wonder if those Costco passes will be effective in driving weekday visits and lessen the crush expected on weekends.

I'm scared to open this thread each time, thinking we have a new announcement of a price increase or more black out dates! Lol

I smell another price hike in Spring.  Note the Costco pass must be redeemed by May 2016.

Wouldn't be surprised if it happens sooner.  A major change in the single day ticket structure is coming.

When USH announced the opening date for Potter, they also updated their home page to this:

It seems like someone in charge of the webpage jumped the gun a little bit, as this page has since been taken down.

Based off that page, single day tickets will likely be dynamically priced.

The new flex pricing system has now been released. They will charge what looks like $80-$90 depending on what days you go.

Looks like the flex pricing will only be online from what it looks like! Looks good, I'm very much for it. I think Disney has similar plans.

Not that I'd be even remotely interested haha. They need to release a proper top tier pass.

The dynamic pricing for single-day tickets seems to be a smart move. It encourages visits to the slower weekdays. Once Potter opens, they'll need all the help they can get to distribute the crowds throughout the week, instead of everyone coming on the weekends.

On a different topic, has anyone who's been holding onto a Premium Star Pass voucher redeemed it yet in December? Or are we all waiting for Dec. 31 to get the maximum available time in 2016 with it? I'm just curious if anyone has activated their pass recently and what the reaction (if any) was from the gate attendants, or if there were any issues in getting the passes at all.

From what it seems; there may be another change incoming for the APs around the 15th of January.
