They've priced me out. I was considering a pass, but no longer. I can't justify the price personally.

^Jon, which pass were you considering? And were you gonna do the monthly payment plan? Per month, the increase is only like $5 more for premium compared to the old price.

I was looking at the second-tier option for Southern Californian residents, but it looks like they're limiting sales.

No payment plan for me. I feel more comfortable buying it outright.

The two big take aways here are that they got rid of blockout tickets (in line with the international Disney parks) and 'suspended' the Socal pass.

Not sure why blockout tickets were removed, but I can imagine that guests that forget and drive all the way there are going to pay any price. At least enough to make up the difference.

As for suspending the Socal pass, that's a blessing. The Sundays where the Socal pass could go are some of the rowdiest days at the park and severely hurt the image of it.

The monthly pass is a nice deal in the sense it's an interest-free loan. So adjusting for minor inflation, you're getting a slight discount. I wonder when the other parks are going to go monthly. A lot of them have monthly payments, but only over a period of 6 months.

Speaking to someone in ticket sales today, they're apparently planning to get rid of the other SoCal Disney pass as well.

Which seems to make sense.

One of the long term complaints about the crowds is how it affects "first time visitors". A lot of the passholders are afraid to not have any kind of pass, but ultimately the best experience for people who have never been there is to cut down on the number of passholders.

Same. However... Refurb JP's animatronics, then we'll be talking. Really, I need attractions (and NOT simulators) to justify it. A new SSFL kid coaster, ANYTHING! /caps lock off

I was referring to Disney. Universal is still relatively affordable, and it's not like I have an option not to renew. Heh.

Awkward..... And good point. Or just rent a helicopter and skydive into the park. Always an option.

I loved my payment plan but I have to agree the SoCal passes have got to GO. Overcrowding has gotten ridiculous at Disney and if making it a true luxury is what it takes... so be it.

And if you're s huge Disney fan and go often and can afford it, the premium pass is really worth it with a monthly payment. I pay $45. If I skip a fancy meal or don't go out a few DAYS, I already saved up! For all that is included, it's worth it

It's funny, living in Vegas I can easily afford that but living in California it would destroy my funds even at 45 a pop.

Universal has increased the price of Blackout Day Ticket from $30 to $45.

If you would like to re-visit on a Black-Out date, there are two ways:

(1)    Purchase a 1-Day park upgrade for $45, available at any ticket window*.

(2)    Upgrade to a No Black-Out or Premium Annual Pass for the remainder of your pass life, available at any ticket window*.

*Based on availability.  Additional restrictions may apply.  Prices are subject to change without prior notice.

Just a question: what if Universal got rid of its lowered tier passes later this year? Would that convince everyone to purchase a premium pass?

It'd convince me. My first annual pass to USH was the Premium Pass, then I downgraded to BDGY. Currently on my second BDGY pass, but plan on upgrading to Premium eventually (after this current pass expires).

Especially since you like to visit on blackout days ;)

The premium pass is honestly worth it if you visit often. The free parking alone makes it worth it! Get it before it becomes $500.....no sarcasm there.

I'll be renewing my No Blackout pass this year.

And to beat the Potter price increase, I'll also be buying a No Blackout voucher once they start selling them with December 2015 expiration dates.
