I would call them to ask (818-622-3801) to verify if annual passes purchased in person will allow early admission.

I called the number and things do not look good for me. I bought the top tier pass before this early access thing was announced. But because bought the pass at the park instead of online at a time when I did not know there was a difference, I get screwed over.

^ I would push that up the chain. In my opinion, people who bought the new passes should be allowed to get that early open benefit, or at least exchange for a pass that does.

Bringing up the new Demand pricing structure, It seems like a great move. Cheaper prices, plus early entry seems like a good win for those buying online.

You only get early admission for the first day you use your pass if you bought it online and they do not honor this if it was purchased in person (I just called them).

Everyday special early entry would be a great extra perk for a future range topping Annual Pass.

Assuming the rep knew what they were talking about, it is not indicated on the site that early entry is only valid for the first visit, which would be grounds for a refund in my opinion.

So if you bought your pass in person, even if it is the top tier pass, you don't get early access because you didn't buy it online?

Even though I didn't buy a pass yet, that is BULLCRAP. I have never seen a park work so hard to shoo away pass holders.

And I would pay a pretty penny for this perk and for parking Universal if you're reading this...hint,hint...

In regards to the "select park area" early entry.... If you haven't guessed, that is pretty much theme-park terminology for "early entry into WWOHP". It should be quite obvious given the starting date of April 7th, which is also when Potter is "officially" open. It is the closest thing we have to "onsite hotel guest early entry" like Orlando.

Of course, this is USH we're talking about and they tend to screw people over, so watch them send early entry people to the lower lot to ride JPRA, Transformers & Mummy for their 200+ time.

But I agree with Freak, its dumb to have these special perks for "online purchase only". Especially when it comes to these AP prices.

FWIW: Universal Orlando allows annual passholders early entry during slower times of the year, e.g. weekdays most of this past January.

I agree that there is no harm in offering a more expensive pass with more perks for the major fans! Im lucky i have the star pass for the rest of the year! I hope Universal slowly offers more pass options for major fans like us.

FWIW: I spoke with Ricki today in guest relations and, after looking into it, she responded that annual passes purchased through the official website get early admission for any day they use their pass, so long as the date isn't blacked out. This is consistent with the website lingo, so unless that ever gets changed to the contrary, that's what I'm going with.

That's correct! Just spoke with Universal and that is their policy: http://insideuniversal.net/2016/02/universal-studios-hollywood-introduces-new-ez-rez-ticketing-system/

^ I'm nobody, but if I had recently purchased a Gold pass (prior to early entry being offered), I would get on the phone and (politely/firmly) work my way up the food chain until I talked with someone with the authority to do the right thing. Pass prices haven't gone up with this announcement, so there isn't much for Universal to lose by fixing this for recent purchasers.

Yes, when I have time i'll definitely have to call the number stated previously. But just to be clear, even though I purchased my pass a week ago at the park, I won't be eligible for early entry. Did they confirm that to you Jon or Opie? It's kind of hard to tell right now. If thats the case...       lol

This perk only applies to tickets or passes purchased online using Universal's EZ Rez system, so I would assume not. I'm not sure if there's a special indicator that can distinguish EZ Rez purchases from online purchases.

I had a Costco pass and they told me to return if I wanted early entry, saying only tickets bought online are supposed to get that benefit. But, again, I'd call them and politely make your case to a supervisor.

It would be interesting to look at a new EZ Rez printed ticket to see if there is something different about them. Since most people will buy online to get the discount, my guess is that almost everyone (that arrives on time) will qualify to enter early. I'd hate to be the guy at the gate in charge of keeping people out who are there early but just bought their ticket at the booth.

Another interesting note by USH during the new booking process is "Guarantee your date". That suggests Universal will admit Ez Rez ticketholders during park near-capacity situations while excluding others. I don't know if this will ever happen, but it appears that ticket staff will be able to see how many with a ticket of that date remain to enter on those days, and thus stop entry for those without it. Again, I doubt that many people will be buying tickets outside of this system going forward, nor if reaching capacity will be a semi-frequent occurrence, but who knows?
