I know there are a lot of mixed/sometimes strong feelings attached to this project, but the work going into it is actually pretty hopeful. They could have just left everything alone except the Shrek building. We’re getting more than that - a larger improvement of the area.

We can argue about theming integrity, placement, IP etc. but overall I’m excited that they are showing no signs of slowing down even while EU is under construction.

I wonder if this will move to KidZone over by Dreamworks Destination? I have to think unlikely since that would essentially be hiding that M&G experience in the back corner of KidZone, but it will also seem out of place in the middle of a bunch of Minions stuff.

I’d like to see Kidzone replaced with a Dreamworks Land. These characters still have such a following but it seems like their theme-park presence is slowly dwindling. Just split it into three ‘neighborhoods,’ where you can have Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, and Shrek all with mini-lands. This will finally give some permanent meet and greets for these characters that are reliable experiences. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the park hoping to finally get a picture with Shrek only to find that it was his ‘day off’ or something. It would be nice to have a place where you can count on meeting characters. You can see how well these characters are doing at the Dubai parks overseas and even at the new American dream mall water park, and it’s a shame that universal seems to be abandoning them

How much could a DreamWorks Kidzone cost?

You already have a coaster and play structure, just need some paint and signage. Place a couple of flats in the Barney area and leave some expansion space at the Curious George plot for a dark ride like Cat in the Hat.

Add in Shrek, Madagascar, Trolls meet & greets, along with some creative food & beverage, and make your money back.

MIB/Simpsons/FFL, can wait a little longer.


From a financial perspective, I wonder if Universal is just reallocating capital to the 2nd EU property hotel since it seems that the project is moving along. Possibly why FFL project was canned/delayed?

I think a "Far Far Away" land could be ideal for thematic sense, with the Fairy Godmother causing some ruckus, allowing you to "teleport" to other lands, Madagascar, KFP, Trolls, etc.. Also a perfect opportunity to drop in another Starbucks or 2!

Then Shrek can finally get the ride he deserves! With universal’s recent scent-based effects I’d love to see what could be done when you ride past Shrek’s outhouse!

Bad Guys will probably depend on the Netflix/Peacock numbers.
